Edition 30 out - GTI Pirelli in
GTI Pirelli finally coming to the UK
Hot on the heels of the news regarding VW UK removing the Golf GTI Edition 30 from its model line up, comes the announcement that UK Dealers will now be getting the Golf GTI Pirelli edition. Although the timing appears to be a touch rushed this is welcome news to those who would have missed the higher output GTI engine from the UK GTI range.
Fitted with the same 230 PS 2.0 T FSI engine from the Edition 30, with options for the 6 speed DSG and existing manual transmissions, the Pirelli branded model does live up to it's namesakes heritage. Acceleration figures of 0-60 in a shade under 6.8 seconds and a top speed of 152 mph should keep things lively, too.
Exterior specification of the Pirelli edition sees 18-inch Pirelli 5 spoke alloy wheels in Titanium look, wrapped in high performance Pirelli P-Zero tyres. A small Pirelli badge on the rear of the Golf gives away its pedigree. Three colours will be available from launch; Black Magic Pearl, Reflex Silver Metalic and Blue Graphite Pearl. Dropped, for an unknown reason is Sunflower Hue - pictured opposite. Of welcome news to prospective buyers is that Metallic/pearl effect paint comes as standard. Similar Edition 30 bumpers, skirts and exhaust trim are also fitted. All of which are colour coded to help distinguish from the standard GTI trim.
