Google Analytics

Recently in the past few days we've setup an account with Google Analytics. It's a free service that provides stats and information for website traffic analysis. You just simply place some code into each page you would like tracking and voila! you have access to reports from the data collected.

Of course, with a site this size, it will take time to populate any data so that it becomes uable, but initial findings are looking good. I have been concerned over the past few months that this site has been loosing traffic - be it from long time members moving on - or poor rankings with Google / Yahoo / MSN search. Hopefully the new reports will give an indication as to wether this is true. The site was averaging around 12,000,000 hite per month but I fear a steep fall in this number is to be expected.

I hope to get the website stats forum updated the end of this month, as its been far too long since it was updated.
