  • Has the Volkswagen Golf MkVI been delayed until 2009?

According to Auto Express it would appear that way. They report that the new platform car is to be unveiled at th Paris Motor Show next Autumn, a full six months after the penned debut which was scheduled for the Geneva Motor Show. This delay has been a very knock on effect of a strategic overview which was commissioned by recently appointed Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of Volkswagen AG. It seems the drive for this review was to spruce up the design for a number of models in the VW range, some of which have not even been unveiled to the public. As you can probably guess, the Golf was also one of the models targeted during the review and by signaling of this delay it's apparent the model is in for some changes.

As the Golf is penned for debut at the Autumn Paris Motor Show, we'll have to wait at least six months before we can get out hands on the UK based version. This does also pose some questions for the life span of the MKV model, and to some extent does duel speculation of a range topping performance model being released in the same vein as the MKIV R32. Parts bin special anyone? Joking of course, VW wouldn't do such a thing.
