Getting a juddering sensation when in first gear when pulling away with some load on the engine,ie mainly on any incline. it's there up until the car's away and moving. it feels like a throbbing coming up the pedals and steering until the clutch is fully out.
    Gti 05 plate, 15k.

    Any one else had this??

i get it occasionally. it's not bothering me though, the car is still under warranty.

i'd not let it bother you, unless it's shaking the car. if you feel the need to take it to the dealer and have a fix, please let me know the outcome.

    cheers.

    russell.

I get the same, sounds a bit rough. Dealer has checked the car and reckons its fine......, but he would.

Not sure if its related but I had this problem and my clutch ended up slipping after it was REVOd.

After stripping down the Dual Mass flywheel was found to be completely shagged, and the clutch had sustained damage as a result. Luckily VW did the lot under warranty, and the dealer was excellent I have to say.

So it may be that the juddering is linked to a poorly DMF ?? maybe coincidence? who knows.

Remember the clutch is NOT covered under warranty after 6 months old unless its considered as `mechanical failure` and not `wear and tear`., a very grey area and dependant on how supportive your dealer is.

    Good luck.

    Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and just came across this thread.  I'm in Australia, and mine has had a slight vibration exactly as described above from about 500km of age.  I pointed it out to the dealer straight away and they replaced the flywheel under warranty.  It lasted for about 200km and then the noise/vibration came back.  It doesn't seem to affect performance and only really happens at low revs on a hill start, so I let it slide for a while.

I just recently started going to another dealer and pointed out the problem to them.  They said it's common with the dual mass flywheels and nothing to worry about - that they replaced a few flywheels in the early days but it never lasts very long so they wont do it any more unless there is actually a problem with clutch performance.

There is also a thread on this problem on www.honestjohn.co.uk. The judders is a recognised problem from the dual mass flywheel caused by heat from slipping the clutch
