That looks great, how much material did you need? any reason you didn't do the glovebox, not a criticism just curious. Stick out tongue

Can't remember how much mate.  I'm recovering stuff fairly often so I have a good few meters of it laying around.

As for the glovebox.  Have you ever tried to cover anything in a non-stretch material?  It's a lot harder than you can imagine.  Even with professional upholstery glue it's tough going.  At the time I decided that instead of making a mess of the handle part where it curves in I'd rather have it left the way it was.  The door is the only part that isn't covered.  The panel below is covered too though.  I might change it up a bit after the summer but I have too many other things going on to worry about it at the minute.

I need to get some new pics of my interior.  It's changed a bit.  I have an R32 wheel, anniversary mats, R32 dead pedal and a black autodimming mirror.

Ok cheers mate, I only said because the piece of plastic on the right looked harder to do than the glovebox, but i've not covered anything before. Looks good though. Cool

Just ordered some chrome Octavia VRS door pins from e-bay - 8.95 delivered for a set of 4. A nice cheap oem mod.  Also just painted the badges on my car (didn't fancy chrome or black) a nice shade of steel grey (vauxhall colour) and they have come out like this (rear is a sharan version)

For all of us that can't afford £120 or there abouts for bolt on hubcentric spacers, take a look at these. I know they aren't alloy, but at the end of the day how much difference is a couple of kg gonna make if your not planning on flying up and down a quarter mile? Just make sure you put a light coating of grease on them to prevent rust.  Ebay Item number: 220445711711 and I can confirm that they are a perfect fit and arrive very quickly, well worth £57.50.

Needed - Multifunction idicator stalk - Outside air temp sensor

You can get H&R spacers delivered from america for half the price of the retailers over here.  I've had several sets sent over in the last order I done to ECS tuning.

It's only the same as putting copies instead of original vw alloys on your car though isn't it, as they weigh more than oem one's, or putting a sub in the boot. I can't see it bringing the mpg down too much I am currently getting 400 - 450 miles to £40 worth of diesal at 99.9

A lot of replica alloys are badly balanced as well.  If these are badly balanced you need a lathe to fix it.

Could you explain that so an idiot (me) can understand. Hmm

from what i read and been told

1 kg of unsprung weight is equal to 10kg of sprung weight, some say its around 1 to 4.

anything that is not on springs, ie: wheels, brakes, spacers, hubs etc are unsprung

the rest, body, seats, engine etc etc are sprung weight cause they ultimately put their weight on the springs of the suspension

i had the very same spacers on mine, 15mm all round, was definitely noticeable, its like having bigger heavier wheels

    • A forged, more lightweight wheel has a lower angular moment, therefore lower inertia. This leads to a lower absorption of power in the acceleration stage, and greater effectiveness during braking.

    • The light weight of the wheels increases the suspended mass/non-suspended mass ratio, which means better functioning of the suspension.

the same applies to spacers and anything else that is unsprung.

  • A lightweight wheeldoesn’t simply increase straightline performance, when you hit the bumps and twisties they come into their own.
  • A lightweight wheel is much more eager to change direction.
  • Less unsprung weight means that your suspension won’t have to try and control 25kg of wheel and tyre, bouncing around in the arch.

I still think that Bora vents should be moved from the exterior section to the interior section as they do go on the inside of the car! Anyone else see what I'm saying???
