Nice looks loooads better..... its the one thing that i hate about the MKV....the grey plastic valance make the rear look really naff on any colour except black!!!

If you dont mind me askin how much did the valence cost inc. spraying??

Tarox G88 and Strada pads fitted soon!!
CC Remap to ~140bhp ---- long term goal 200bhp!!

    thanks! Big Smile

Erm the valance was just over £40 from the dealers.

The exhaust was about £120 from the dealers again, and fitting it was £10.

Got it sprayed for free ( friend owns a bodyshop lol )

not bad costs considering it looks better than the rear of a standard GTI now !

Very nice mate, i have had the GTI valance put onto my GT Sport TSI 170. Then decided i had to have the R32 side skirts sprayed and fitted and now i am waiting on the front valance come back sprayed from the dealers also. One thing that you may of not noticed is that because you have now replaced the rear valance with the GTI one, your rear inside arch liners will not fit properly to the end of the valance. I noticed this straight away on my TSI. I bought 2 new GTI rear arche liners and had them fitted by the dealers too. The arch liners are £25 each.

Hmm thats a good question. My new exhaust is for the 170ps tdi engine ( which is roughly the same spec as my 140 tdi ) So im not sure about your 1.9. I imagine it would be the same if not very similar.

I know the 2.0T GTI exhaust will fit most models with small modification ( I think its to do with the length; nothing an exhaust place cant sort out for a tenner or something like that ) All the rubber fixings will be in exactly the same place.

I've thrown my receipts but i mentioned the prices further up the page. If you go to the dealers to get them, just show them a GTI in the showroom or brochure and they'll know what your after.....and ask for discount !  Stick out tongue

Can i ask is the GTI rear bumper/valance the same as the GT 170?  There is no silly diff like the exhaust hold a different size or something?  Also how do you get on with smoke up the back?  Looks great by the way and great colour!!  I have a feeling mine will look very similar very soon!

I'm pretty sure Powerflow or whatever theyare called these days can simply chop off the ugly discreet pipes and fit 2 x 72.5 mm stainless steel end tips for £60, obviously you will still need the gti valance.

No welding involved matey, just a simple cut n clamp, all fixings are identical. An exhaust place did it for me in about 5 minutes!

Got some blanking off grommets from halfrauds, a pack with 3 different sizes for 99p, fits perfect with a wee bit of clear sealant :)

The GTI and GT valances are slightly different but only in styling, the fixings and holes etc are all in the same place. My exhaust seems to fit and look way better than my mates new GT and GTI for some reason. The GT valance is all smooth with the exhaust hole whereas the GTI valance has like an indent/cutout line across it, going down at the sides. ( You can see the line easy on my car as i only coloured above the line !  )

There's no real biggy with smoke on the back coz i clean it nearly every day and polish it like twice a week lol. But it does look very cool on a frosty mornin :P

Give us a shout if ya want close up or underneath pics or anything like that ! Would be happy to help, ill post a couple of new/close up pics up after when i get home from work. heres two i have on photobuket now...

And yes it will be lowered soon lol

Looks the goods Alex, well done! It looks  like a GTI at the rear now. The wheels look good too mate.Big Smile

I agree that the stock panel looks dumb in black. It at least should have been an option to have it painted.

    Cheers, Andrew Smile
