the second one looks a bit chavy imo, can the be flexed to fill the gap between the head light and bumper so they fit in there?

Personally I don't think they'll look right in either of those positions as I think they'll appear stuck on. They may look ok on the black side grills above the fogs immediately below the bump strips.

Incidentally have you seen this thread:  http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/thread/1071364.aspx

Cool...thanks to everyone for their comments + link to a similar thread.

After reading it all, how about this set up, which is vitually invisible and dead easy to install..??

The side light was off when this pic of the right hand side headlight, was taken in the dark.

GTi honeycombe grill does not make it easy to install horizontal S6 style lamps. Would have to make cut outs in it...Surprise

Yes, bought the LEDs off ebay.  £10.48 incl P&P & VAT

Been to Ultimate Dubs today and bought these babies:-

They have daytime running LED's in the bottom strip and angel lights around the two headlight sections. They are standard light fitments although they are made up to look like Xenons. Road legal and right hand drive too.Cool

    Fitted mine yesterday

I still have to change the sidelight for an ice white light and the Orange indicator for a silvered one (still flashes amber when lit)

But the pics give you a representation of how they look.

They look more OEM than I first thought they would and definitely better than chopping up any of the lower bumper sections.Cool

    Why not?

Surely by comparison you are poo-pooing all mods which take their inspiration from other VAG group cars. Or is it just the lights you don't like?

To be honest, I think the lights look a bit tacky. If you wait long enough, I'm sure a company like Hella will start producing 'audi-style' lights to fit on all sorts of different cars.

I've got nothing against mods which draw on other vehicles in the the VAG range, I have, however, got something against sticking random strips of LEDS to the front of an already decent-looking car.

Yes, but the ones I have fitted are factory made headlight units and not some LED strip that - as you say - has been randomly added.

Hurdy, do the bottom 4 LED's come on with the side lights, or are they fitted as Daytime running lights (i.e on all the time?)
