I have LED sidelights and have resistors installed in order for them to work

Does anyone know if the number plate lights require resistors as well in order to install LEDS in them

Have had blue festoons in them but they have blown on me. Will led festoons work without resistors

Yes they will as long as you get the polarity correct, wouldn't go for blue tho being as it is illegal to have blue light anywhere on your car.

They only work in one way like a battery they have positive and negative poles, you'll know if its in wrong it won't work just turn it round.

I tried to fit white LED 37mm festoons to my Ed30 number plates lights. Gave up as they do require load resistors and there is very little space for them. Ended up as my sun visor mirror illumination...

    Cheers

Yeah i thought that would happen. I have leds in my side lights with resistors and i just installed leds in number plates because people in these forums said they would work fine but NO! they dont, same as side lights, require a resistor and there is no room to fit one!

Do like the Lexus license plate look but as mentioned previously - VW is a bitch when it comes to using LEDs and you'll need resistors to make them function properly.

Looked into this myself because I continously have to change one light after the other. The OEM lights keep fading after a few miles (always run with my lights on though).

How did you manage to get into the headlight to change the sidelights? Took the bumper off then?
