I've posted a few pictures of my car in 'Members Rides' but I haven't really made a build up thread, so I've decided to make one and then update it when I add things.

First of all, some basic info on the car.

It's a Mk4 GT TDI, 110PS. It's a '99 model and the colour is Futura Yellow. There's 125k miles on the clock, more or less.

Bought in February 08, it looked like this.

I did a chop from this image of what I wanted it to look like..






First things I bought, Black grille badge, rear GT TDI badge, induction kit, strut brace & German plates.







(no picture of the strut brace or German plates, sorry.)




FK Angel Eyes were also delivered from Germany..

..and fitted, along with the badgeless grille (my original grille was damaged)





Next to come were the 18" BK 299's. They were fitted. It was also lowered 30mm.

(yes, the original headlights are back on for MOT purpouses. The FK's are road legal but my bulbs were not. FK's are back on now, see below pics.)


A new badgeless grille was delivered due to the old one being broken in the process of changing the lights. It looks better in my opinion.

Headunit arrived today and did a trial fit.

I've got some more things to do to the headunit such as properly earth the unit, install the rear view camera and add the iPod connector. Pics to follow.

UPDATE 8/6/08 - R32 Bumper & interior bits added!

18/06/08 Bumper Painted, DVD Player re-installed and R32 radio surround now complete with Cupholder :)

The R32 mesh is in the boot, ready to be fitted and the numberplate is now on the bumper.

Update 3/7/08 New picture, it's not that good.

well that looks different, i think i like it! thats a rare colour for sure.

i see alot of plans to to mod the interior/bodywork but what are you going to do to the engine?

did it not come with rear gttdi badge

great colour. Are you going to get engine chipped?

Hi, It's my first car and I'm not a hugely experienced driver, I'm moderately happy with the power at the moment. I removed the badges to smooth it off. :)

UPDATE - R32 bits added!

are you sure that genuine .:R mesh will fit in a replica bumper?

 More to the point what does that "FUNK" button on your dash do?

I'm not sure about fitment regarding the .:R grille, but I know the bloke in the bodyshop so I'm sure he'll be able to fit it one way or another :)

The 'FUNK' button does nothing, I can't think what to connect it to or even how to illuminate it. I want to replace it with another one the same anyway as the corner is snapped. :(

 hey mate i'm liking your motor but I think I prefer the colour it is at the moment... I think the gold and black(roof, LM's) would look pretty damn cool

How come you debadged the front and then by the looks of it the badge is back?

heh, using it as a base, i can take it off if you like? There was a really high standard of golfs at this year's club stand but my fave was yours :)

ok, haven't updated this in a while and there's been a few changes which I thought I'd post..

Anyway, not a huge amount has happened recently.. to put a long story short I hit a brick in the road, which hit my sump and punctured it. When they were repairing it, they noticed that the cat and the bottom bit of the exhaust had been bodged so I asked them to fix it too.. it came to about £400

anyway to put the car back on track, I decided to sell my R32 bumper as I wanted to go for a smoother and more subtle look, so here's how it looks now:

basically a standard front with painted grille slats.

I'm not sure whether to get a smoothed bora front or a smoothed golf front.. I'll probably go with the Golf front, but here's some pictures of how I want it to look:

can't decide myself, I'll see what comes along..

they're all fitted as you can see in the photos, and look great! aRd programmed my clocks, top job! illuminated needles & miles to empty aswell! top bloke!

The gearknob is such a change to the old standard one, it feels much better!

Rear wiper removed:

finally, before anyone comments on my bodged centre console, I did order a new one but somehow I got a left hand drive one, there was a communication breakdown somwhere along the lines (the right code was posted on the forums, I ordered 1J1 instead of 1J2, agh!)

 i like the p/s with golf front on bently's, very nice

Hopefully getting some Bentley wheels soon, wanting to paint them gloss white..

That would look really good.... but you have alot of work to do before you get there!

I would stick the to Golf front end btw.
