Yep... not a problem, on the ST3 swap between stock and any of the other 2 maps at any time in a bout 3 minutes. Also some people say the flash counter is incremented, but thats not true either, it resets the counter.
"Some people" would be me.
Before I go on, I would whole-heartedly recommend the ST3 to anyone considering a reflash - I think it is great, particularly price-wise. I have the Bluefin unit on a Mk V Golf GTI & the ST3 fast road map on a Skoda Octavia vRS (ie. same engine as the golf). Both are good, but I actually prefer the ST3 map over the Bluefin. The main reason is that the ST3 is very, very smooth to the point where you don't realise you're going fast until you look at the speedo. The ST3 also seems to get to the redline without running out of puff. The Bluefin has a real surge around 3000rpm and then dies off higher in the rev range. Also, I like the throttle response of the ST3 fast road map better. With the Bluefin it's almost like the bottom third of accelerator pedal travel does nothing, with the ST3 it's just like driving with a standard car if you don't push too hard, but when you want it to go nuts you floor the throttle and it takes off like a rocket!
Now to the flash counter. I have vagcom and have verified on my own car, and two others with the ST3 reflash, that the counter has increased. All different engines too, one 200 petrol, one 140 diesel & one 170 diesel. So far I am lead to believe that the Australian cars being coded slightly differently is the reason for this. Whether or not this actually affects UK cars as well remains to be seen, as I have not seen any UK vagcom owner mention anything about it. I believe Chipped UK may be working on a solution, from what I've heard third hand, but since my emails have never been replied to I can't be sure?
