Was using IE6 to look at the forum today and realised that when I clicked the back button to exit a thread it automatically scrolled the page down to where I was in the list of thread when I clicked on the chosen thread - hope that makes sense!

I use Firefox most of the time and it doesn't do this and so I need to scroll back down and quite often lose my place and miss some interesting threads!

It's not a massive problem and it's not going to make me switch to IE6 just for that, but would be interested to know if it could / should be doing it in Firefox.

Currently running Firefox 2.0.0.14 if that makes a difference.

    Jon.

I use tabbed browsing instead Jon, that way the active topics are open in the original tab and I close the threads as I have read them.

That's a thought Idea I'll probably end up with a squillion open tabs then! I'm bad enough as it is for that. There's normally about 5 or six open at any one time Embarrassed

Like I said, it's not a massive problem but would be good if it could do it.

Also, don't want to sound like a member of the 'the forums rubbish since the upgrade' brigade (it's not, it's way better) but I'm sure it used to do it on the old version.

Could just be my firefox - will get round to updating to firefox 3 eventually.

I think its just FF in general as mine doesnt scroll back down.

Does it scroll down in IE7 (as i never use it)?

Don't know - I avoid using IE7 more than I avoid using IE6 as it's all weird and confusing - nothings where it should be!

Firefox will scroll to the previous position on sites like eBay, it's just the forum that I'm really aware of it not doing it.

Put Firefox 3 on the laptop last night and that doesn't scroll down when using the back button either.

I have noticed when browsing the MK5 section, clicking back comes up with 'page can't be displaying almost 99% of the time, it's annoying but not the end of the world. If i click back in the MK4 section it's fine and works 110% perfect every time, any tips on how to overcome this minor problem? Cheers people!

    This should be sorted now.

In the recent upgrade the software vendors put some code in to stop all the pages from caching in the browser, FF was actually working as it should by re-loading the page on clicking back.I've taken that code out so FF and IE (and others) should work the same now Big Smile

Cheers David - whatever technological voodoo you've employed, it's worked and is scrolling back to where I was when I use the back button - my scrolly-down finger won't know what to do with itself now!
