I'd rather have a concourse RS500 for that money, not keen on the mk5 at all.

I'd buy something like this (keep the Golf though) :)

    (¯`'•.¸Black GT TDI 130,.•'¯)
    40mm drop | W8 Light | sunglasses holder :) | 18's coming (eventually) + roof bars with fairing

    (¯`'•.¸Impreza Sport Wagon - 2.0 Sport,.•'¯)
    Standard....

Mk5 all day long, although that mk3 looks like its been modified with some thought and not drove through halfrauds coated in superglue!

    RS6 Alloys | De-locked | Hella RSSR | W8 Light | 6000k xenons | Hella Micro Front Fogs | Alpine system | Front & Rear Aeros | Black Badges | and half a recaro interior!

Ive seen this car in the flesh & have spoken to owner, its really nice in the flesh & the audi set up is amazing, but I don't think its worth £15,000. Engine bay looks good though, that schrick manifold is lovely & bloody rare too.

I'm sure the owner thinks it's worth 15K but I think he'd have trouble getting that for it, there is a lot of choice for 15k out there and modifying is a personal taste thing, I wouldn't pay it though.

Sorry but to me thats not worth anything close to £15k, a 18 month old MK5 GTi would be a much better buy imo.

    The MKVI's are comming...

The Mk 3 is a terrible car.  I wouldn't buy one for any money.  Not overly keen on the Mk5 either.

15k would buy you a lot of car elsewhere.  I go with the idea of a concours RS500 or would have a nice Escort Cosworth for that kinda cash.

No i wouldnt buy that but would buy a secondhand caterham for trackdays and weekend fun or a fully restored and reliable vw split screen camper in the californian style for shows and touring about in.

Strangely enough, nearly a month on it's still for sale on Autotrader, and the owner still wants £15k..........

     15k for a mk3. Not in a million years.

Where does the black in Guinness go when you wee wee? I mean, how can something blacker than a black night with the consistency of used engine oil come out crystal clear within 20 minutes after 10 pints?

Not a chance - as mentioned above tuning is a personal thing and to though the owner might feel it's worth £15K I wouldn't agree with those numbers.

If the MK5 gti is your only other choice I would go for that, but when entering £14,500-£15,000 in the pistonheads website a huge number of awesome cars pop up that would be worthwhile alternatives...

For 15k you could hire a hitman for the paintwork on that mk3

No chance, not for a mk3... Greg's mk4 was up for around that price and I know which one I would opt for. But in all fairness I wouldn't go for either, it would be a mk5 or a nice A3 or something
