I've had one it was far from standard though, it had an £8500 engine upgrade in it and ran well over 400bhp and 400lb/sqft did about 9mpg but was still unbelievably reliable despite the fact it was hammered regularly! They need oil change every 3k and super unleaded too.

Before the mods it did 25mpg no matter how its was driven. They are very predictable handling too, i've been thinking off another or something similar.

bear in mind a new clutch will cost £600 to fit, so make sure that has been done, also check the back arches for rust they always go there,

always wanted one, but they are a bit old now, wouldn't have one as a daily runner tbh more of a weekend toy now

Tbh they're easy enough to do a clutch on yourself, i did mine while the engine was in my shed being rebuilt. I used it as a daily runner to do 15 mile round trip for 6 months.

Cool thanks guys. To be honest buying the car isn't so much of a problem as insuring it will be! I just fancy something faster than a 1.6 so toying with ideas. Prefer something less common as well.

Yeah but they are common as muck up here and only fast because they are so light! They do look nice though!

I bought and sold one not too long ago.

It was a 1991 on a H plate and was good fun.

It rattled a fair bit on the inside as did some suspension bits and didn't feel as tight as modern motors but still...im sure with new bushes and a few tweeks, would have been spot on.

I didn't get to drive mine much (no one does traders policys for 18yr olds) but had a bigger turbo and a few other bits and was relatively quick (around the 300bhp mark) and handling wise, pretty good. Cornering grip wern't all that bad..

But my mate use to have and 450bhp one....its use to wheel spin into 4th gear despite having 4wd....madness.

Also, the engines are bullet proof but i've been told the gearboxes in them are a lowd of $|-|!7. My mate blew his before he started tuning it up and his car had only done approx 40k with FNSH (UK Model).

But good cars but a bit too old now i think....

For a fun car..... and bearing in mind it costs around £4k for a top example... I'd get a Subaru Impreza WRX. Similar running costs and will eat a pulsar alive :D.

MR2 the 1991 models + are good fun. They handle top and had one that had done 190,000 km and it drove tight as a drum...

    Hope this helped

if you want it to be a q car steer clear of scooby and fyi a pulsar will whip virtually any scooby mine used to play with and regularly beat 911 turbo's and ferarri's all day. Spin all 4 wheel in third in the dry.

Go over to this web site nissangtir.co.uk and check out my pulsar I have just sold, 430bhp and 420ftlb of torque at 1.6bar of boost  I ran it at 2bar and it made 476bhp so no not many scoobs (none) gave me a problem! it is listed under ''Franks R'' in the members rides in fact if you do a search for posts under my user name ''Turbine'' it will come up, but they are old and yep they do need a fair bit of attention the higher the state of tune the more you have to attend to them! and if you need any spares I have a shed full!!

Hugely expensive parts and many have been owned by morons who thrash the nuts of them and can't be asked to maintain them.

A mate had one, and it spent more time off the road than on the road. When it broke down for the third time in a month he had it recovered to the garage he bought it from and told them he was swapping it for something else.

Hugely quick, but naff interior, no oil painting, and plenty are long in the tooth now...

Where does the black in Guinness go when you wee wee? I mean, how can something blacker than a black night with the consistency of used engine oil come out crystal clear within 20 minutes after 10 pints?
