Looking for a well looked after Anniversary TDI but I'm not interested in paying mega money so average mileage and a sensible price is what I'd like.

I would also consider a tastefully modded TDI150 - Anni kit, nice rims and a bit of lowering plus interior touches but nothing more than that really (OEM+ basically).

    Thanks.

Anniversary (used to have one - on the look out for another now)

For a good diesel Anni now which has been looked after you would be looking to pay around £8000-8500

I'd say 9k is my absolute max, but that would have to be for a low mileage car. Would prefer to spend less on an average mileage and would really like to find one that has a lot fo the usual stuff recently replaced.

I'm based in Cheltenham so cars in the South are prefered but would travel for a good car.

I have that same nagging thought (on the R) But I do think R prices can only slide downwards and probaly quite quickly especially if the new £455 road tax happens to the R in 2009/10 and petrol etc etc

Mine's for sale, bit of a trek up to Cheshire for you - but plenty of people on here will tell you it's worth it.

Had new discs/pads/bushes/shocks/springs in the last 12k, arrow straight panels and serviced every 10k with every bill for everything done to prove.

According to Glass' Guide you'd be looking at £4900 p/x or £5900 private sale for your car

You'd be looking at £6200 for your car in a p/x and maybe another grand if you sold it privately.

Anyone paying the asking prices for both cars would seriously need their heads examined. The used market has taken a battering recently and this is reflected in the above figures.

Regardless of what has been spent on servicing or mods, you're not going to get any more than the book value.

DC... thanks for your input... but you'll find that those are the going rates for anni's. Whether it be high or not in your opinion, they do sell for that price. But I thoroughly agree that the used market has taken a battering, and I'll probably have to lower mine down to about £7250 to get shut of it, but I guarantee you I will sell it for a lot more than book price.

You find me another diesel anniversary for sale cheaper.

Glass's just do the old trick of sticking £500 premium on top of anything called a 'limited edition'.. on a genuine limited run car they have no data as dealers don't sell enough of them to collate accurate info. Out of 900 theoretical cars, I'll bet less than 5% have been sold through a registered dealer in the last 12 months.

A good example (and in no way comparing mine to a CSL before you ask) from their site:

    BMW 3 Series M3 CSL
    3.2 Petrol 2-door Coupe
6 Speed Sequential Rear Wheel Drive
    Year: 2003 53
    Mileage: 30,000

    Excellent condition:

    £22250

    Average condition:

    £19900

    Below average condition:

    £17700

Think you can find one for a little over book price?

EDIT - I do accept your point DC about a deflated market, but this is true of thirsty petrols that attract high road fund licence. Diesels are pretty much stable and If I was looking to buy one then something nice, quick, capable of doing 50mpg and costing £115 a year to tax would be on my list... the benefit of there only being another 299 cars exactly the same as it in the UK ensure residuals stay high.

Granted, to the lay man wanting a diesel Golf, then they make no sense at all... those wanting to pay a premium to have an Anniversary do so because they want one and the fact they're fishing in a small pool dictates prices.

What does the glass' guide say for a 95 VW Corrado Storm for example....compared to what you can buy in reallity?

Standard of course, I don't think either the above or the Anni is being sold at a higher premium due to mods for example.

mods have nothing to do with it, the point is these cars sell at the prices asked for them, u cant put a book price on a ltd edition car esp when its being sold privately,

DC - Interesting points, however, looking slightly wider, at standard 150 PD's rather than Anni PD's as they are more common, I would like to know where I could buy a 2003 PD 150 with 50k miles for the low dealer price(s) quoted by Glass's. For once Parkers prices look more realistic. Most local dealer cars are priced £1,500 to £2,000 higher than Glass's retail prices and sell relatively quickly, even when their condition is fairly average, and higher than average mileage.

Anni are in demand as it's a rare car especially diesel version i'm surprised the one on the bay didn't sell even though its done 80,000 miles £7,000 would have been a bargain me thinks.
