    Hello all,

Ive got the above mentioned car - and got a few ideas - thought I would run them by some experts first.

Firstly, ive been told the suspension is pretty weak - which i can concur with, as Sleeping Policeman make quite a bit of noise.

So ive got (Potentially) Boldge [sp?] Gas Suspension on the shopping list - around £250 (is that right?)

And to add to this - I have a front Strut Brace in the post - which apparantly should be more noticeable once im on Gas.

Secondly, Its double DIN - CD at top and Casette on bottom - so looking for something Double DIN.

Would a touch screen 6/7inch thingy-a-ma-bob be any good... Bout £100-150 on eBay.

Anything else a bit tasteful for a Double DIN - or just a regular Double DIN Stereo?

Also, as you'll see the pics show, pretty poor wheels. Factory standard i beleive.

So looking for alloys. What will fit? Would Audi 5-stud fit? I see nice Audi wheels about on some Golfs.

If i went to 18/19inch, would i need to change anything or strait swap?

Cheers for any help in advance, please see a few snaps below...

Gosh... a bit quiet round here Surprise

If people are worried about diving in (as I did ask a lot) then I think the 'Hot Topic' for today is the ICE.

Its got a CD player (factory fit) at the top and a factory fit tape deck below. So I assume its a double DIN.

Whats good to put there? A nice 7" screen? or a nice Kenwood Double-DIN something or other?

What sort of installs has everyone got round here?

Hmmm... Not really sure on that, as it would just attract receipts :(

But i like the idea - what else can you put there... Can you get a CD changer that loads the CD's at the front rather then a magazine?

I would prefer to have everything controlled 'up front' - or perhaps there's something cool to be thrown in there...?

Erm not true mate,Audi wheels are 5X112,where VW are 5X100,to fit genuine Audi wheels you'll need adaptors to make then fit.

Big Smile That actually made me laugh!

Thanks to the other poster about the cleansliness - it was professionally valleted when i got it!

But thanks for the input too. I was looking for Gas Suspension - is that one of the best? Is it different to 'Sport Shock' kits?

I lowered my old car 40mm and it got annoying after a while. Can you do any less then 35mm. I reckon 20mm might do the job nicely.

But as well as some nie Suspension - do i need to buy some lowering springs too - or do you adjust the suspension it self?

PS Ive already got an armrest in the car - its well handy! Do you wire the connector from the head unit under the carpet to the armrest? That sounds genius!

    Yep,thats the wayWink

Your car does look awesome in those pics,Gas suspension is quite cheap stuff, but i've got it on my car and the ride is ok for the cost. The kit will come with lowering springs(that's how it lowers the car),you could invest in genuine vw anni kit(sits 15mm lower than a std 1.8t)

I here Koni fsd's are the dogs if your going for struts and springs,if you wanted to go lower your going to need coilovers, these range from £300 to stupid money(well over £1000).

    Hope that helps you

Ive got Gas Suspension on mu uncle (the mechanics) shopping list - coming soon - and ive got a Front Strut Brace in the post too - as this + the gas im told should be quite nice.

You say you have them and its 'okay'.. at the moment the ride is quite rubbish with the factory standard suspension...

I dont think i can afford 300 notes on the suspension though :(

Read through, thought of a few points n then by the end had forgot what I was gonna sayEmbarrassed

    *Flicks up and re-reads*

Car looks nice mate- As for radio, you can get the sat nav units for the golf/bora and they slot straight in the double space, but you'd need a changer fitted for cd's.

Audi wheels seem okay on my Golf. 18" A8s with a 35mm drop. Firmed up nice but still comfortable on bumps. Front wheels do scrape a touch on full lock though

I fancy a front upper strut brace soon, let me know how it goes with that and keep us updated on the car. Like the plans you have Yes

I have an upper front strut brace.

I dont understand where the rear ones go... or where the lower front one does either :(

Are the front lower ones a good idea too?
