how about the site tries to get some sort of sponsorship from the company producing the stickers.

this way they can be given to the members free (maybe say the top 200 active members).

surely then the site would pick up new members through the stickers on cars which will increase membership. it surely must be a good thig to promote the site in this way and seems perfect to generate extra members.

    views/opinions?

Does this seem a good/logical idea?

Right, I'm the one the voted 'No' so I thought I'd explain it.

Don't get me wrong, would be a great idea in principle - why only the Top 200 active members though? What happens if I'm the 201st most active member? Why don't I get a sticker when the person with 10 more posts than me does?   I'd say it'd have to be either free stickers for everyone or free stickers for no-one.

Also, how do you measure 'most active'?  Purely on post count?  There's some long standing members on here that have collossal post counts but barely post on here any more (and in some instances don't even own a golf anymore) whereas there's some newer members that are right up at the top of the 'most posts' list daily but still have a relatively low post count compared to more long-standing members - so who's the most active?

The other issue would be is a sticker company really going to be interested in sponsoring a car forum?  Although they might get the odd bit of business out of it, I can't really see them getting enough to justify the outlay on sponsorship although I'll admit that i don't know what our sponsorship rates are.

Then you've got to consider that someone somewhere would need to be responsible for keeping track of all the stickers that were being sent out - if you were doing free stickers for everyone that'd be quite a big task to manage.

I realise that, I was just playing devils advocate to an extent - if I was offered a free sticker, I certainly wouldn't say no to it Smile
