I've just bought some 19x8 rs6 reps for my mk5 tdi

I'm waiting for a coilover kit but decided to pop them on the car to see.

They have an et45 offset but seem to stick out the arch about 1/2". Is this normal as i'm worried about the ability to lower the car enough. Or is it a case of my eyes playing tricks as they have 215 rubber and the car has the stance of a 4x4 at the moment.

I was expected them to sit flush with the arch so that I can get the car quite low, obviously with them protruding I think it may be a problem as I will have to allow for clearance for the travel of the suspension

ET45 should fit into the arch,  Im running 18" on coilovers and they are Et46 and go under the arch just nicely. Maybe looks weird being quite high but lowering it will bring the camber in and tuck the wheel under the arch.

 Mortygttdi's got it spot on. My rims are et45 and i had the same illusion you had, but now its lowered on coilies, it sits beautifully. Jut pull ya finger out and do it! Worry after. Thats half the fun! ;-)

 just run stretch tyres and it will provide plenty of room for the sus travel

 Its just an illusion brother, happens with all cars, just lower the damn thing, then finish ya misses to spend the rest of ya life with it.
