When i bought my golf the trim around the gearstick had not been properly fixed back the way that it should. Ive tried sorting it but failed. As you can see from the pic and shown by the arrows there is a gap. The trim also moves about which is preety annoying especially when ya go to use the wee ashtray. Im preety sure it isnt supposed to be glued but maybe im wrong? anyone know? maybe a etka drawing would be handy. all comments appreciated. thanks in advanced :)

    Hi Mate,

I had this same problem.  The two parts are supposed to be fixed together at the factory and are not designed to come apart.  I was just lucky (I guess) that a car alarm installer damaged the finish on my lower consile, so I got a replacement one for free! I don't think they cost very much though - not more than £40 from VW, I think.

    Wigster.

Before buying a new one, surely its worth glueing it back in place?
