Question for you clued up guys...

    I have a 2.0 8v APK (fly-by-cable, no 2ndary air pump) MKIV with a good few mods.
Neuspeed P-Flow intake, solid intake tube, EuroSpec 3-5bar FPR, Denso IK20 iridium plugs, Neuspeed wires, 200cpi cat and {slightly over-the-top and noisy as hell} Scorpion 3" piped cat-back exhaust.

Just fitted a TT260 cam and not seeing much gain at all!  Have a Neuspeed adjustable cam gear - currently set to 0.  Timing is good.  Running 3.2bar fuel pressure - was running 3.1 before the cam.

I know, ideally a nice (rolling road custom) remap would be best to get most from cam, but can't really afford it yet.  :(

Since intake, exhaust and cat have had good 4k+ power but lower down quite poor - much the same with cam.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated thanks.  I'm yet to adjust the camgear - figure a few marks or advance would sort the low end..?

PS: Planning to go FI at some point - hence cam choice.

Have you had the fueling checked ? this is vital, I wouldnt drive the car with these mods if the fueling isnt perfect.

A nice equal length 4-1 manifold would increase low down torque

4in1 header would be nice, but never been able to find one to fit a RHD car.  Supersprint do one, but I've heard it's LHD only - not sure why!

ChippedUK - could you tell me what could you do for me in terms of a remap please?  I have an A/F gauge so am pretty confident I'm not leaning out, but the 3.2bar on stock map is somewhat expensive in visits to my local Shell! Sad

what are you expecting to get out of this setup with a custom remap? i've heard storm developments make a charger kit that'll give 230bhp for the 2l 8v.

I Just checked out storm developments, and couldnt find where they say they can do that to a 2.0 8v???? So Ive sent them an email and am waiting to hear back from them!

What sort of BHP and torque are you getting out of your 2leater at the moment with all those mods>? Has the Air intake kit really made  much of a difference as I was thinking about getting one of those thrown onto my engine????

    Cheers

Will sure be interested in hearing what Storm say - could you let me know please?

Did notice a bit of gain when I fitted the filter, but was a long time ago now.  Sounds sweet for sure!

Will tell you current power after tomorrow as have rolling road session booked...Big Smile

Havent't heard back from them yet, but I will post when I do. Yeah, I am just wondering whether it is worth spending the money on a CAI and whether it will actually do anything worthwhile!???

OK - so one rolling road session later and I have some numbers!

    In short 130bhp engine (100 @ wheels)  and 130Nm.

Had a fairly good chance to try different settings on adjustable cam gear and will post curve pics (when i've sorted my new hosting).  Could get 133bhp with 2deg of retard but the only improvement to curves was above 6k rpm and much worse below.  Tried +2 and +5 and settled on +5.  Less top end power but higher bhp + torque over rest of curve and especially low rpm range (which I need to turn the big heavy 18"s I have).

Fuelling checked and all fine even at 3.0bar, but running 3.1 for nicer top end.  Guy who did tuning v helpful and said I prob wouldn't see much more power from chip but ignition timing might help smooth curves/better drivablity, etc.

Trogolodyte - my P-Flow isn't strictly a CAI but a short-ram system.  Replaces air box with BIG open filter oval-cone where air box was.  OEM cold air feed does point at it nicely but planning to add additional cold feeds from lower bumper intakes soon.  Fraid I can't really say how much power this alone would make, but Neuspeed reckon 1-3 gain for their K&N panel filter so probably a bit more than that for the short-ram.

Ramble over, pics & curves to follow.  Maybe even the full mod list in XLS format.

How big is your pocket book? If you want big power from a N/A engine the best way to go is throttle bodies and custom management like dastek or megasquirt, that way you can control fuel, timing and spark. You would be looking around £1500-£2000 but you have a really tractable engine which would probably reach the better side of 200bhp dependant on cam profile.
