    Hi,

What do I use to remove the fuel filter on a Mark IV Golf.  Theres some sort of connector at each end of the line, but I cant see how to take it off.

    Thanks in advance

    Darren

Should just be able to use a pair of pliers to loosen it off then slide the hose off.

yes, you need to use needle nose pliers on the white bits (pretty sure they were white) and then pull the connector off. be carefull though, theres more fuel in those filters than youd think

Sorry for my ignorance but I don't understand what you mean "on the white bits"?

Its one thing I've never got around to doing on the Golf yet.

im sure they were white, i did mine about a year ago so cant remember clearly, but they were black connectors on each of the the fuel filter, with white bits on opposite side of eachother, they might have been black. you press these 2 bits together with a pair of pliers and the connector slips off

what car is it? diesels are different

I presume your talking about a diesel!? if not the ajb100 is right! But if its the diesel you can remove the clips with a pair of ordinary pliers, but be careful as you can bend the metal clips then they wont come off very easy!! then prise the pipes off the filter, remove the mickey mouse clip an lift out the valve with the pipes still attatched!

Its just a little 1.4 petrol.  I'll give it a go the next time I am under the car.

    Thanks everyone!

I just used needle nose pliers to prise them off. Whole job took 5 minutes MAX!
