Couldn't believe it this morning folks,
Got up, nice sunny morning to a letter from the bank instantly i recognized the envelope shape from my student years as a "you-owe-us money-and we've taken it so there" the thinness of one bit of paper, it surely had to be an overdraft charge notification. how come, i've been a really good boy?
A quick smoke and a gander yielded that I had indeed gone overdrawn! But my overdraft limit was wrong- none of it made any sense, they cant suddenly change your overdraft; can they? Well, yes they can actually if they are complete morons.
I've been a customer at this bank for over twenty years and i know my account, so I called their helpline pronto and explained, they checked and on june 2008 my overdraft was changed without my permission. The girl on the other end was pretty disgruntled at their incompetence too so charged the complaints dept £20 for inconvenience £5 phone bill, and amended my account.
So how did it happen? You know when you get your banks' insurance keep you on the blower at the end of a call (I normally hang up) asking you if you would like to take out extra household gadgets insurance and cancel your insurance set up for instance when your mobile phone company or Currys stitched you up for contents insurance, theft of handset etc.,? Well I took this out and cancelled all other insurance and the morons at the bank changed my overdraft without my permission!
What idiots!!
Be warned.
