Im doing the G60 flywheel and VR6 clutch on my 1.8T.

Now my question is do i buy the 3 in one kit - will the thrust bearing from the vr6 fit my 1.8T or do i just buy the clutch and get the bearing from the dealers to fit my gearbox?

Any help would be much appreciated Embarrassed

Hi i have just put on vr6 flywheel and black diamond vr6 clutch on my 1.8t  AUM. i have used the bearing (vr6) which was included in the kit . no problem with it.

tha gerage has to get flywheel bolts with the smoller head as the original one (1.8t) was to big, but maight be only becouse my flywheel was lighened (5.8gk). i`m not sure about it .

Just weighed my G60 flywheel and it tops the scales at 9KG

I've allway's thought that the less weight on the crank= more bhp to the wheels.Am i wrong here?

its a really good IMO, very soft OEM feel and bites and holds always. being remapped means more torque and i've never felt it slip like the original one did, which then burnt out. a frictionless plate is rubbish! Cool

HI i have recently put lightened vr6 flywheel to 5.8kg and black diamond vr6 clutch. the difference is HUGE! the car start pulling at around 1900-2000rpm and when the turbo kicks in the revs go up so quick. The car will get on revs much quicker with the lightened flywheel as thare is less weight to move on, so the engine can spin it faster with the same power. I don`t know what is the weight of standart 1.8t flywheel but I will imagine if you put not lightened (still less kg than dual mass 1.8t) g60 flywheel you will get half of the differance in acceleration i get. With the lightened flywheel you will not get any more top speed but the acceleration is much, much better.

From my point of view thare is no point of spending money on the clutch , flywheel and labour without lightening the flywheel first. I have found one web site in the past who  was doing the lightening and ballancing on g60 for 80 pounds on exchenge. they are doing the flywheel to 5.8kg.

olso i have powerflex dog bone and the vibration i had was terrible, after changing the flywheel i have cut the vibration by half. i herd the oem flywheel are not propely ballanced dou to mass production.

some people said the car might not be good to normal drive due to the fywheel being to light and that`s not true.

some people said you can`t put vr6 flywheel on 1.8t engine and i can confirm it`s not tru as i have one on my. maybe you can not put the normal one (not lightened), might not fit due to size on outer side.

this is the pic of my lightened flywheel

dubaudio1, where can the lightened version be bourght from? and is it alot of difference from the standard g60 flywheel. cuz people say the standard g60 flywheel is a vast improvment to the standard dm flywheel, so the lightened version shoulbe be in a league of it own compared to standard

also do you know what power it can handle?

    thanks

Hi after 1h of looking on the web i have found it in my favorits.

    http://www.jnlracing.com/vag_flywheels.php

i have used them a long time ago for my mk3 gti. it's a great service.

i have not drive on standart g60 flywheel so i`ve got no idea what is the differance, but i can say WOW what a differance it is now. about the power, i`ve got no idea. the best is to give them a call.

i have my vr6 flywheel from scrap for 30 pounds.if your gonna lighten  it, there is no point for you to get a g60 one, i know it`s hard to find one as vr6 will fit as well.
