My name is Simon and I drive a 1992 Mk2 Golf GTi that had its 2.0 16v 175bhp/150lbs engine and 5spd 16v box replaced with a Mk4 1.9 GT TDi 150 engine and 6spd box.  Apologies for those strict on only wanting to look at mk4/mk5/Bora etc but I would like to discuss the engine and further engine mods on here....so thought I would introduce myself first.  I won't bore those mk4 diehards with exterior shots of the mk2 but will limit it to pics of the engine bay.

The car sits on grey 15" Compomotive MOs, with Brembo 4 pots/305mm discs, FK coilovers, strut braces and ARBs all round (+ a load of less important extras) and of course....

The engine has got filter and decat S/s exhaust, AMG Merc I/c (not fitted in these pics) and ECU remap.  I'm hoping for power figures around 200bhp/300lbs (not back yet from remap).  LSD and L&B flywheel should come shortly.

My other car is an '03 Saab 9-5 Aero saloon which replaced a 850 T5 estate.  I am neither a dentist nor a farmer. Smile [:)]

Haven't got it back yet from the company doing the conversion.....next weekend (why is it always after Intl??!?).  I have driven it in its unfinished state and it was quick, although I haven't had a proper drive in anger yet to know how quick.

My Mrs used to have a mk4 TDi 130 - the induction on mine is much louder and sounds much deeper.  I will probably look to relocate the battery to the boot and make a housing for the filter to sit in behind the lights - hoping I don't need an air vent.

    Cheers for the welcome.

Great effort, I have seen plenty of 1.8T lumps in Mk2's but this is my first PD.  Do you do the conversion yourself?  Post some piccies of the whole lot, we are not 100% MKIV orriented.

Live near Basingstoke, work in Swindon...hence TDi I/o 2.0 16v.

My new project is a little quieter and a bit more subtle.  Apologies for the size of the pics.

I didn't know about a previous PD engined mk2....would like to catch up with him if you know his details.

Realised it had been quite a while since I updated this thread....

Sold the Compomotives and the Brembos and went to 280mm G60 set up and 16x9 et10 rear and 16x8 et25 front Keskins.

Rallye front end, full bare metal respray including rear smoothing mods (deleted wiper, cl rear window, smoothed tow eye and exhaust recess)

the engine was taken out, wiring tidied up and run down the chassis legs, washer bottle and battery relocated to the boot and OE air intake fitted

Keskins sold and replaced with freshly refurbed 8 and 8.5x15 BBS with stainless dishes

Next on the list is mk4 dash so my mk4 clocks can sit nicely

That's a great car although I'd have stuck with the normal MKII front end.

Thats what I've returned to in order to fund the BBS.  I prefer the look of the quad GTi set up but its not as exclusive imho.

I really really like this car, well done. I wouldn't worry about any snobbery from MKIV owners, you'll most likely find a lot of us have had MKIIs at some point. I've had an 8v & 16v... I'd love the time for another.

Hmm - Rallye running gear and a hybridised set up, I think you'd have me camping outside your door until you gave in and sold it to me!

    Mike.

Hey UFO, not seen you about for a long time!!  The car is looking sweet mate and I think Ive spotted it but not on those rims around our area.

I did actually think you had brought a Q7 as there is one driving around our area but I think with A1 UFO reg.  V nice, thought you had won the lotto or something.

I'll give you a flash next time I see you - The Anni is looking a bit dirty at the moment, too much rain for me to spend 7 hours detailing her!

I changed from the keskins to the BBS about a month ago.  For just a 1" change in wheel size its completely changed the look of the car.  Plus I've changed back to the quad gti front lamp set up - so it looks much more OE.

Q7?  I'd love to have the money!

Thanks for all the positive comments.
