I have a VW Golf GTI 1.8T MK IV 51 plate.  Not sure if anyone can help me but if i leave my lights on and take my keys out the ignition it does not make that sound to remind you to switch your lights off.  I have only recently purchased the car and it has never worked.  I am assuming that it has this feature as it is not a basic model.

I have noticied that when i open the driver's door the interior light does not come on but i cannot see a pin sensor like most cars have to see if it is that.  The light comes on when all the other doors are opened.  Is this what it could be? If so what do I need to do to fix this.

I need to get this fixed as i left me lights on this weekend and resulted in me being stranded with no help for hours......

    thanks in advance

Is there something specific related to the light buzzer.  From what i can read from all these posting this is all to do with door locks playing up.   I have also gathered that this is not an easy thing to change and require the inside of the door to all be taken apart.

Am i correct in saying that if you change the door module my light buzzer will work????

As Dent says, this is a common symptom of the faulty door lock module.  Very regular fault on the Mk4.

Solution is to replace the door locking module (around £90 to £100 from Stealer), or if you're good with the tools, strip down the original module and re-solder the broken joints...

it is not broken joints in some of the cases.

on my module it was the little latex condom that covers the contact part of the switch  that had rubbed through over the years and as this was missing the cam that swings round when you pull the handle was not making contact with the the switch head.

i have repaired my one a few years ago but has started doing it again so PLAN B is to get a used module from the scrappy along with as many of these switches as i can and make a PERMANENT FIX kit to solve it for bloody good Angry
