Hi guys i have an 02 gt tdi golf which i have had lowered on full weitec springs/shocks and a h&r anti roll bar.

my problem is that everytime i accelerate or brake i get a knocking noise. (basically every time the engine moves up and down)

only started happening since  the lowering.

    any ideas please?

No sorry, but I like those wheels, I was thinking of getting some of those and they look good. That picture of your car puts mine to shame, and makes me realuize how badly I need to give it a good clean and polish. Your pic makes me realize what mine could look like if I cleaned it. Thanks,.!!

Get new arb's. How much have you lowered by? You shouldn't get issues unless you've gone past roughly 40mm

    thanks

i did buy a new h & r anti roll bar, i think the weitec kit i bought was 55mm but the guy told me to buy the arb and that would stop any knocking

you could getting some front shock spacers from VW to raise you car, they sell 2 types 5mm one and a 10mm one, although you may already have the 5mm one on already as some cars have these fitted as standard

Check the engine mounts etc, gearbox one can be common for snapping, or the roll bar supplyed was an uprated standard spec? as the drop link would have been changed to get a higher lift as well.

H&R bar won't be touching the driveshaft, but the subframe will have to have been removed to fit it. The subframe bolts might not be uber-tight and it could be moving, causing the knocking sound?

here's a pic of them, they fit on to your shock absorber piston on top of your spring cap just below the bearing to give you more height

i would say its the dogbone engine mount, the one that bolts directly underneath it. Mine "went" and jus knocks about a bit. check to see if its worn etc. If you buy an uprated one, beware that they shake the steering wheel like fook. I personally think they are horrible.

I have just bought Eibach Sportlines Springs and Anti Roll Bars for My GT TDI. It says it drops my car 25mm - 30mm but 50mm on a standard Golf. Will i have this knocking issue once mine is fitted?
