    Just bought myself one of these cool new Netbooks I think they called for the knock down price of only £199.99 from Currys.....

    Anyway it comes with Linux loaded to save doubling the price just to line Bill G's pockets,if I want to install Windows XP instead,am I going to lose  functionanlity of stuff like power and battery monitoring and any other functions particular to that machine,or will Windows still be able to do all that for me?

    I thought I'd seen those advertised with XP loaded anyway...

    Good competitor for the AsusEEE.

    I have one of the EEE's and love it, put XP on it to play and because I could and it seems to do everything including the battery monitoring.

    The only thing I found with the EEE on XP is that the battery gets rinsed very quickly in comparison to nix.  Will get round to doing EEEFedora at some point though

    xp is resource hungry not as bsad as vista but not as good as linux

    Ouch. My Eeepc was about £50 more expensive than that, and with a smaller screen. I guess that's the price you pay for adopting new technology! I'm sure XP will work fine, and if they sold it as a version with XP pre-loaded, then that pretty much answers your question about drivers.

    I sold my Eee but it was handy for using with VAG-COM, and when I didn't want to lug a bigger laptop around. Now I've got my iPhone, though, I don't even think about carting my laptop around!

     I have ordered one of those elonex one T's. Placed the order about 6 months ago and had a few delay emails. Supposed to be here the last week in August.

    Along the way, they have upgraded them to a slightly better version. Purely ordered it because it was £100.

    I'll have to see if it ever turns up.

    Thanks guys,I'll stick my copy of XP on it and update the drivers from Acer's website,should give me everything I need?

    go to http://www.aspireoneuser.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2445&start=10&st=0&sk=t&sd=a and grab a copy of xp sp3 with all the drivers already cooked in ;-)

    its all legal because you need to use your own licence key anyway. ;-)

    btw i'm getting one of these beauties delivered today!
