this is ridicilous as alot of you would have paid extra for the 170 rather than the 140.. n e news on the rumour ?

if you read the OP's replys he says the figures are as quoted for engine spec so you can only guess the rumour mill is fallen lol lol

hahah.. i kind of missed that the first tym round.. but a 1.4 gt tsi owner from one of the links posted has said he had his can on a RR and it said 156 BHP :S

I resolved my minor lack of power issue with a remap (ChippedUK ST3) apart from having heaps more grunt the car drives like a dream now, why they don't tune them like this from the factory is beyond me.  I know of several people on other forums who turned up their noses at diesels because they found them unrefined compared to their petrol counterparts. I haven't driven the new Common Rail diesel engine model as yet, but I have driven a car with a CR diesel engine and found it to be a fair bit smoother than the standard VW PD diesel.  However, since the remap on mine I'd have to say there's not much in it now. I myself have the ST3 fast road map and did'nt reilize till i had my car on the r/road that the power quoted from the factory ie 140ps/170ps was at the flywheel not the wheels Embarrassed

Anyway here's my figures 156.92 bhp @ wheels and 172.13 bhp  @ the flywheel which is an healthy 34bhp increace and the car pulls like f**k in every gear lol Big Smile

Currently running 175 BHP with 433 NM of touque....

I don't know exactly what the increase in power output is in HP but I know that it gets from 0 - 110 kmh  in approx. 7 secs, not a bad time for a 2.0 litre diesel. Surprise

Could anybody please offer any advice on this please, my TDI 170 was running ok until a fault light came on the dashboard which was a failure of a pressure sensor on the DPF

The dealer had it in and replaced it and although I clearly asked them not to uprade the ECU software, I noticed on the invoice that they had done just that!! now the difference is noticable, poorer performance and the fuel consumption is worse, so obviously they have installed the lower power quick software to avoid all the warranty problems with these cars?

I will be in contact with the service manger tomorrow to tell him that I am an unsatisfied customer and to ask him to re flash the ECU with my old software

My point with him and VW is that this car is now not the car that I bought and I am certainly not happy

Anybody have any experience of pushing this with VW UK and if I threatened legal action if they leave it as it is?

Any comments or help will be really appreciated

    Go for it bud,

I have had in all 5 software revisions. Three that are incremental at two major.

Yes, you lose some torque, yes your car will regenerate every 250/300 miles, and yes the engineers at VW did this for some reason I can not understand, but appreciate their expertise on their engines.

You can like many off us just get the new software remapped and ask a tuner to remove the 1st/2nd gear power limiter.

Fuel consumption is because your car is regenerating much, much more often.

Do you have dual zone? If so I can tell you of a little software hack by using the dual zone controls that will show your cars DPF filter level and current engine temperature that will rise when your car is regenerating (norm 85-88, regen 95-100). This always helps me to understand what is going on under the bonnet.
