That is beautiful!! Apparently the astra vxr is a nightmare cos it has too much power going to front wheels but i think this will be awesome!

It's not actually. Mk6 GTI uses the EA888 engine. Rocco R will use the EA113 engine with uprated internals, bigger turbo, bigger intercooler and other things. FWD to keep the weight down. It already has a wider track and handling wise it's better than the Golf. So it should go well!

why did they do that?

 fwd, so does that mean that you could only push them to around 290bhp then it would be pointless beyond that because off putting the power down.

not to clued up on mechanics,

well, if when my R was fwd has anything to go by, anything above 250 is a waste of power off the line

but it will come into its own once its already moving

it would just be more usable if you could push power to more wheels..

only an issue at the limit when pushing the car.

to be honest, im sure theyve sorted the chassis for this and it will handle it very well.

but anyone wanted to get more BHP out of it.. may find they need to stiffen the chassis to compensate similar to what most of us do with the FWD on the 1.8t and similar FWD  cars

we have a guy on another forum planning to bolt a GT30 onto his ED30, heading for target 500bhp.

The Focus RS already does 300bhp thru the front wheels with no probs.

Plenty of mk2 Leon Cupra's are running over 300bhp.

so the old theory of 250bhp is the max for a FWD car, is no longer true.

I see your point about 250bhp & FWD(maybe its torque more so), but my mate has a Focus ST (sorry for swearing!) and that is pushing about 300bhp and a LOT of torque...It is fast when moving, but off of the line it just spins and you can never drop the clutch at 3k which is a shame.

I am in the boat of thinking this Scirocco look very nice (NOT in yellow) and the 2.0T would be good fun, but I would rather have the 4WD system so I could make the most of that power all the time...like an evo perhaps

that what i was thinking, alot more drivable with big power if it was 4wd,

my roc has similar power levels to the standard R, the issue of 2wd isn't really an issue from a standaing start, the problem the roc has is putting power down out of corners so will be interesting to see how ediff works to keep that in check

can't wait to see what the 3 door Golf R looks like as a feel rival, roc R looks spot on though 

Looks nice.    Nice power from a good engine, although I'd still be fitting a Reiger kit if I decide to go for one of these over and Escort Cosworth. 

FWD isn't a problem at all really, I know someone with a Focus RS that's running 400BHP with more mods in the pipeline.  As long as you run clever diffs and the right suspension, it can still handle incredibly well.  The Focus is the best handling car in its class.

 i seen a scirroco with a number plate which read sci roc or something like that lol, that must be bst number plate to have, oh yeah and followed by a guy who nearly lost control of his s3 on a  roundabout, fun to watch him sweat ahah

I take it the leather seats will not be standard for 25k. Headlights look like a LED / Halogen combo rather than xenon's. I must admit it does look rather tasty.

 I think it looks the nuts. Really would like to get a scirocco as a next car. Probably just a 2.0 Tsi though : )

Seriously nice looking car, but not quite that nice.

 VW are slowly getting there with this but its not quite! they say that they are dropping the 4mo to keep weight down to improve performance, it has 15bhp more that a MKV R less weight but still nearly half a second slower to 62, in the dry! regardless of the chassis it will still suffer from power on under steer out of bends. They are using the 8P S3 engine, which with 4wd and Stronic(DSG) does 0-62 in 5.3!

I think it was EVO that did a feature about 2 months back with a couple of 400bhp MKVs and a 8P S3, The S absolutely stuffed them in every way, grip.

There is a reason Audi always put quattro on their hot models and what makes it more annoying is that they are sister companies and Audi have already done the R&D all VW need to do shoehorn the parts in plug in!

I agree... my sis has just traded her TT in for a white rocco (with brown seats tho ), cant say im overly impressed with the DSG box tho!

But VW do not have a RWD platform suitable for a rocco sized car and IMHO the cost of developing one would surely have killed the idea. Each RWD VW sportster/roadster/coupe concept car from concept R to Bluesport has either been killed due to cost or put on indefinate hold. 

4WD will always be off the menu because of Audi and in particular S3 / TT / TTS models.

I think white is the new 'in' colour for new cars! If i was buying a new car it would be in white! For some reason i dont see the colour white as a commercial vehicle anymore! More or a stylish new unique simple strong colour! I dont think there is a new VAG that doesnt look as good in any other colour then white

 Sexy as hell and, let's face it, EVERYONE is going to get a 320BHP remap done straight out of the box.  Happy days!

£26,945 base price for Manual. Bit more for DSG. Not too many options available tho really. No Recaro option. Boo hoo.

 What a let down, crap colour choice, everyone and their dog will buy it in rising blue, no recaros, very limited options and £34k loaded!

 OMG the Golf R is £39k loaded, but No DBP thank god, a i wonder what everyone will choose now
