hey guys i have a gt tdi 110 when i rev it it makes a whistling sound is this normal or something wrong.

have you got a airfilter?
if its overly loud it may be a boost leak, just have a quick look and check its not loosing presure.
What engine does your mate have?
his may not be boosting as it should? but as above if its REALLY loud it may be a boost leak but you would be getting black smoke out the back if it was leaking boost and power would feel really flat!

hey i have the same car mine has always done this since i have had it, im sure its a boost leak but every one tells me it isnt,
all i can say is if your car pulls well dont mess with it,

myne wistles then chatters, i had a leaky rubber pip that goes to the mushroom looking think so i cut the ripped bit of and connected it

Sticking wastegate whats the solution to the problem. Sorry dont know much about these.
the 110 tdi dont have wastgates, but a vnt to controll boost. this could be cloged, or not geting enooght vacume to work 100%.

Sorry for the late reply im running 2 alternators 1 in standard position 2nd in place of the air con pump. The 2nd alt broke off brackets and hit the sump which caused an oil leak and drained all the oil which mashed the engine up. Must have hit a ramp or a ditch hard for it to break off, but am back up and running again so no worries. The positive side to this was thr new engine i bought had a brand new clutch and flywheel with it and my clutch and flywheel were on the way out so its not too bad.

I have noticed on my 1.8t when giving it the full beans in 3rd it whistles, I thought it was the wind from having the window open. I have only noticed it since having it remapped with a pipercross airfilter and DV007P.
If its normal I dont need to worry about it.
