Well the boot install is quite nice. I really like the brushed aluminium. And the vibe amp's always look sexy no matter how well or how badly presented...the compression horns hidden under the dash are very stealthy and look like they belong there. I didn't get to listen for very long but I noticed one thing straight away, how well the midbass married with the sub. Chris explained he had it passed upto 500hz which is why they sound great on the midbass. You cant go wrong with dls 8"s in the door's in a mk4 anyways its idiot proof! I wasn't blown away by the compression horns like i expected to be though... Imagining was good and dead level on the dash but i dunno i was expecting a plethora of aural colour and substance Maybe choice of music you played chris, but it just didn't do it for me. I wanted it to envelop me in crisp and flowing harmonics that a compression driver should project. I just wasn't there for me. Sub was impressive for the price if just by its looks. Sounded pretty tight in its sealed enclosure But without listening to some good source material thats known to me its not fair to make a final judgement on any part of it. At the end of the day the SQ game is a case of what sounds good to you. Everyone hears things differently. I know for a fact i've got deficiencies in hearing things about 5khz as i've had my hearing checked. So in my system i would boost those frequencies where as someone else would not. And when they listen to it, it might be brash and over timberous but to me it would sound spot on. Overall its an interesting setup to say the least and worth a listen :)

Thanks but it's way too far for me considering I finish work at silly hours.

lol it's flattering of you to assume that I'd have the sort of insane money required for that mammoth install Embarrassed but as much as I'd love to say that's mine, it's Ian 'The Iceman' Pinder's. Got the chance to sit in it at CAS a few weeks ago and managed to get a few snaps as well. Nothing compares to it.

Because he's an ICE legend and he's been doing it for years? Because he can? Because he's sponsored to do it and it doesn't come out of his pocket? Because it's a show car and a promotional tool for all the companies involved? etc etc

And no it most certainly is not. Just because you have an incessant amount of watts doesn't mean you're playing unclearer music the louder you go. It's about how you tune it - and needless to say it's perfect in his van - to the environment it's in. Perfect example is the Valve Soundsystem. I think the full rig is 90K RMS if my memory serves me correctly, yet that doesn't clip or distort becuase it's EQed properly wherever it goes and the volume isn't just turned up blindly - and of course matching the input power in the first place matters as well.

A good majority of the DIY installs I've heard sound flappy and wayward simply because they're not tuned properly, you can have all the gear in the world but if you don't know how to configure it you might as well stick with stock.

i would rephrase what you said

its because he is a twazzok, idiot, plonker, nothing better to do etc etc etc

doing that is not enjoying the music, thats the whole point of it, enjoying the music, beat, rhythm

To be honest I'm also slightly underwhelmed with them for a retail price of £800Surprise,I struggled to justify the £200 second hand price I paid for them, but definately better than any conventional tweeters I've had in this car,and a much much easier load to drive than the DLS mids and tweets I was using before.
I had USD piezo horns in my Honda Prelude back in the 90s,and they were definatly a lot better on dynamics than the moving coil ones I've got now,in fact some well recorded tracks had such viscious attack on them that they took me by surprise every time, something I don't get with the ID horns.

Like Ian said they are missing that certain "something" which I can't quite put my finger on,it's difficult when I listem them every single day to work out what it isConfused.

Now what am I doing this time next month, think I normally have my bath about that time of the yearHeat.

    Chris.

Alright boys, great meet the other night. Everyone was expecting the biggest turnout considering the weather, which died out just before the meet started lol. Considering shows etc around this time of year it was a perfect night.

Some great cars at the meet as everyone knows from the pics Hamidi took.

Saw Hafizur drive past yesterday down Manchester Rd; looked sweet bro.

Ian, we need to get something sorted soon geeza, i'll be too busy in the near future for a whole year so I want to organise a few things before I end up bored lol.

LOL, Easterns staying as one of the most established meets in the East. Don't worry Hamidi, you'll still have a local place to hang out.

We could still hit a bigger event somewhere between both meets and perhaps have it as a quarterly meet.
