Just a bit of a grumble about the car of the month comp. which seem to be slipping by the way-side in recent months.  The submissions thread seems to go up later and later each month - march and april only went up at the very end of months and we've even missed a couple as well. The vote thread for June isn't up yet and we're already in to July!

Just wondering why this is as whenver the threads go up there seem to be loads of people put their cars forward for it, so there still seems to be the general site-wide enthusiasm for it.  If it's just a case of mods not having time to administer it then I'm sure there'd be a few willing volunteers amongst the general site populous.

My other gripe is about the whole submissions, nominations and voting thread system - it seems to make it unnecessarily long and complicated and people regular post up in the submissions or nominations thread thinking they're casting a vote.  Now, I'm all for free and fair democracy, but surely there must be a more simple way of doing it?  How about just putting everyone forward from the submissions thread, but strictly limiting it to one pic per entry to keep it easy to look through and then colating them all in to a single vote thread?  Leave the submission thread open for a week, then have the vote thread open for a week and then give it two weeks off so people don't get confused.

I'm not a regular contributor to the COTM threads, but I think it'd just be a shame to see it peter out as it gives people a chance to show off their cars and others to see lots of good cars on a similar theme together in a single thread.

    Jon.

    Hello Mr. Duvet,

My fault, and I apologise. I was going to do it this evening. I thought about it when I was at work earlier today, but I am unable to see photobucket pics when in work to be able to get the images of the nominated people's cars.

    I'll get onto it now.
As for recent months, I know that they have also slipped. I keep being given various large projects at work which means that I'm unable to give as much time to the forum as I would like and use to.

No need to apologise!  It'd just be a shame to see it disappear that's all.  So when's the July submissions thread going up? Big Smile

Any thoughts on simplifying/streamlining the process?  It just all seems a bit long-winded and having three threads from start to finish just seems to overly complicate it a bit and doesn't really keep peoples attention.

Oh, and my only other complaint is I've not won it yet!

    Jon.

Just done the vote with 7 days on. So as soon as that is done I will do July's comp.

As for not winning, you should try harder Stick out tongue

I've checked it and there's not a 'most neatly torqued up bolt' one else I'd be a shoe in for that.

i wasn't aware of a car of the month....

are they accumulated in to the years worth for a calender? i'd have / print / download a calender even if it was month by month - would obviously have to be before the beggining of the month.

is there a link or a place to go and nominate or vote for the entries?

    sorry for all the questions.

    olly.

It's got it's very own section on the forum here.  And the current vote thread for June is now here.

Each month has a different theme - once the June comp is finished a thread will go up for submissions for July where people submit their cars to be considered.  Then about a week later a thread goes up where people nominate cars from the submissions thread to go forward to the vote and then about a week after that a vote thread is created where people can actually vote for what they think is the car of the month.

There's no calendar of the COTM month but there is a downloaded calendar for using on your windows desktop here.
