hi,
odd question i know :)
just moved from remapped 1.9 jtd alfa (with around 175bhp) to a 140 golf, and there doesnt seem much difference !?
....which leads me to question whether it is really 140? ...... or does it have mucket loads of torque? anyone know what torgue figure is?
thanks
dan
They're generally 10% more powerful than book figures I think it's 320NM torque.
Historically the VW diesel engines have a few extra ponies packed in. The big but is that the VW engine does have a lot more torque than the Fiat/GM 1.9 unit. From driving works 150 vectra's you have to change gears a lot more to go than I do in my wifes 140 passat.

Is it possible it could of been mapped by the previous owner?
standard mine was 153 bhp / 333 Nm - now its 191 bhp / 366 Nm
150 is usually what most of them put out at stock, but not all of them, you may find some that put out more or less than that figure. As other have pointed out it could have been remapped before, wouldnt surprise me at all.
hi guys - thanks for the replies - right that explains my findings :) dont think it has been remapped but could be wrong - cerntainly doesnt have 190 ..... but that does sound interesting ;) :D
cheers
......just done a conversion on that 333lb figure - so that is about 245lb - nice :)
