Hi all - I'm off on a road trip to France in a couple of weeks. Thought I best change the front tyres as they're wearing a bit.

Have been quoted £85 for Falken FK452's or £50 for Wanli's - Any thoughts? I hear the Falkens are good - worth the extra money?

 Wanli's are supposed to be ruddy awfull, I'd just get rid of them. Had a look at the tyre reviews on Which recently, they gave the Wanli S1095 a rating of 10%, here's what the review said:

'The 195/65 R15 V Wanli S1095 offers acceptable dry grip, but wet grip is very poor in every test. In fact, we found that the Wanli S1095 was so bad at braking in the wet that it travelled nearly 20m further before stopping than the best tyre on test. Even though, like all the tyres we’ve tested, it passes all the minimum legal performance requirements, we recommend you Don’t Buy it. And if that doesn’t put you off, its availability is so poor you’re unlikely to find it anyway.'

 Ive understeered into a kerb before in the wet because of cheap tyres. Since then have always gone Dunlops.

Down with budget tyres!

depends how much you like to go round corners really. ive had cheapo tyres on and were awful plus they didnt last long. ive got toyos on at the moment and they grip very well in the dry and are quite good in the rain as well.

They've now quoted me £63 fitted (each) for the Falkens so have reserved them for next Saturday. My current front ones were V rated where they should have been W which is why they've worn out.

 The rating would of made no difference whatsoever

 I did wonder if they were giving me some bull! I thought it was to do with speed but this was at a dodgy garage and not the one I'm taking it to thankfully!

I'm taking it to place caled Micheldever Tyres - also used them - would recommend them to anyone.
