If you uses the search bar and search "VAG-COM" you should find loads of information about what it can do. Smile

My opinion (and im sure most will agree with me) VAG-COM is brilliant!!!Yes

Its sooo usefull and has many different functions. A few example............Make your car bleep when locked or unlocked, Lock the doors when you reach 10-15mph, Unlock doors when you take the key out of the ignition, add a new keys and Find faults with your car......The list is endless.

Also have a look through this website.............

Thanks very much for the prompt reply, yeah i have been hearing great reports about it, i like the idea of the car bleeping when the doors lock/open. Does the cars horn sound or does it actually bleep?

Yer i have it turned on in mine. I love it! SmileIt actualy bleeps. comes from under the bonnet! I dont know why they fit the bleeper if they dont bother to turn it on. I think its just the U.K. that dont have it turned on from factory. ( don't quote me on that) Big Smile

Whilst, all of the little "easter eggs" that can be activated or changed is really good, for me the best thing about VCDS is the fault code interregation.

To be able to know exactly what's causing the problem, so that this can be reported to the local garage, in my experience at least, seems to surprise them so I usually get a more accurate diagnosis and repair with less of "oh it could be this or that" syndrome.

Yer thats my favorite part of VAG-COM to. Recently my car wouldnt start but after a quick scan i found out it was a crankshaft speed sensor which was on its way out. So ordered a new one and now its fine! Yes

    Absolutely awesome bit of kit!

I think it's the little things it does best, like being able to turn off that bloody annoying bleep for the seatbelt as soon as you turn the engine on!

Go into [17] instrument cluster module. Note your current coding - something like 0003403

The third and fourth numbers are made up like thus:

    00??x0x

    +00 - No options

    +01 - Brake pad warning

    +02 - Seatbelt warning

    +04 - wahser fluid warning

    +16 - saloon (Jetta)

Therefore in my coding above (0003403) - the thrid and fourth numbers in this are "03", which would be +01 (brakepad warning) + 02 (Seat belt warning) = 03. Thus to remove the seatbelt chimes, just subtract 02 from the third and fourth numbers.

Note, if you hover your cursor over your existing coding, a pop up will appear showing you all the options and the numbering.

    Hope this helps.

@ Casperitto let me know when you upload new photos so i can get a look

Can anyone tell me how much a vag-com system is and as i have no previous experience of it, is it easy used or even reletivly easy to learn how to use it. It sounds complicated!

yer no worries dude! You can get a cheap lead of ebay for about £10 but the software will be cracked thus being illegal Indifferent or you can get the official one for about £50

have a play on here. there is a online demo so you can get use to it

Not even close i'm afraid! this is about as cheap as they get, the eBay leads will not work on a CAN based car anyway (MK5 is CAN based)

sorry i read £50 just for the software. Well that what it says on the ross tech site. Only just realise you wanted it for a Mk5 instead of a Mk4. Works fine on mine! Smile
