Don’t want to put a damper on things

    BUT

What happens when someone doesn’t post item

What happens if it gets lost in post

    Who pays postage cost

It’s not the right bit i wanted to swap

    I’ll tell you

    All hell breaks out

Ye sounds good on paper but has a lot of negatives

I understand what you are saying, but I meant whilst the intial ad and approach would be made via the forum, the actual swapping would be done face to face.

Bear in mind a lot of your negatives could also equally apply to straight sales/wanted ads made on this website and that usually goes without much of a problem and the swap shop would probably be low value items that are not worth listing in their own right.

ye that were they come from

And i can tell you same as any other mod or admin can when it goes wrong it does in big style

Iv seen us spend hours debating a problem and the best way to handle it

As it happens one is still going on that is i think over a year old

If i had a choice tomorrow to cut the for sale and wanted section i would

It causes more hassle on here than any another thing

Funnily enough, it's me who has the problem and it's actually two years in total now!  The debt is currently earning me 8% though, which is better than the bank and is soon coming to a head.

Whilst I maintain that a face to face swap means that everyone walks away happy and at worst a postal one is no more dangerous than a regular classified ad, I can understand your point of view and appreciate the fact you've taken time out to answer.Yes

As it turns out the only person from London who posted on this thread was Nickturbo so I'll see what he has for swapping - at the moment I'm just giving bits away!

a swapping section face to face does sound really good to me. face to face resolves many issues.

the only problem/cost involces arranging a place with the other person. however they do it is down to them and they incur fuel costs to themselves and their time only.

    cheers mattytdi.

so what you gots for swappages then Big SmileCool

i will say i'm the same, been giving stuff away all over the place. lowered springs, grills, old exhaust back box etc etc. i got 3 young kids, a garden full of play equipment and no shed. mrs wont let me keep stuff out for too long as it's not safe for the kids to play around, (even kept my old wheels in my daughters playhouse over winter Embarrassed)so this would be an excellent idea.
