Just bough a 2004 Golf 1.6 FSI, there is a slight deisel engine sound when the engine is first started, is this the sound that is talked about in this thread.

The car is 4.5 years old with 27,000 on the clock so I am wondering if it is the cambelt that needs changing? I am also realised am engine sound chnage when crusing above 70mph (only for overtaking of course), is this normal?

That's the noise mate - looks like oil pump is failing.

How much will it cost to get the oil pump fixed do you think???

Now I have another problem, when I switch the engine off there seems to be a loud fan sound coming from the engine for a good few mins. Is this normal???
