    Hello!

I recently became the proud owner of an '02 Bora which is now my pride and joy :D  A friend who is already on the forums recommended I joined, so here I am and here's my first post, hopefully it'll be useful to someone..!

When I got the Bora there were a few small problems, one of which was the glovebox, the plastic rivets which support the white plastic wheels (see photo) had snapped so it simply wouldn't stay together.  I'm told this is a problem on some VWs but I was also told how expensive it would be to fix, especially having a less common grey interior in the car, so decided to try fix it myself.

It was quite a simple job to do and unfortunately I only have photos of the fixed mechanism.  Repairing the pins however was a simple matter of seperating the inner and outer parts or the glovebox door, screwing two stubby self tapping woodscrews into the remains of the plastic rivet and using an epoxy resin to glue the front and back together again.  I had use some tape to hold the two parts together whilst the glue set and propped it shut for better contact but it worked!

If anyone also wants to try this, I'd recommend taking the white part to the place you get the screws from, it's useful having it to hand in the shop to ensure that the screw head will be big enough to hold it in place :)

Hello, I just hit the same problem with my Golf IV and would like to know how did you get the "glove box lid" split in two as shown in your pictures?

I noticed on my side that there are no screws in the glove box lid and  I am afraid using the screw driver to break the lid in two parts.

    Thank you for your feedback.

I tried using this method to fix the glovebox but I have a slight problem...

for some reason the one that actually fell off initally (on the left) is still giving me problems.

When I want to close the glovebox it wont just close I have to push very firmly on the left side, where as the right side is perfectly fine.

I havent glued the lid back on yet...Any ideas?

is the screw you used too tight? try slacking it off a little, if its screwed in too tight the wheels wont move freely, i did this fix and it worked fine, we even found that if you grab the lid from the bottom you can gently break it open, then you dont get the screwdriver marks around the edge, looks untouched when finished.
