My wipers on the Bora wont stop once i turn them on, They keep coming back on at constant speed even when i turn off the engine and restart,

A couple of times they stopped when i restarted,  but they go crazy again when i turn them on to wipe the windscreen, Ive pulled the fuse for now,

Im thinking of the possible causes , Dodgy stalk? Motor? Relay?

can somebody please advise of any DIY checks i can make to figure out the cause?

I had a similar problem, and it turned out the REAR wiper system had leaked (common problem can be found in the search).

This was shorting the electrics causing the front ones to go dodgy on me.

If you take off the boot panel and see if the motor is rusty or covered in brown "goo" then that maybe your problem

    Thanks for the information,

Mine is a Bora so i dont have a rear wiper but do you think the same problem of water could affect the front motor ?

How easy would it be to get to front motor? Help appreciated,

I'm thinking it's more likely the relay, which is the biggest one to the far right of the relay rack on the bottom row.

    Thanks chris,

Where would i find these Relays? in the engine compartment? Just to add, once i turn off the car and take out key for a couple of minutes they do stop, but the problem is still there when i restart the wipers..

You'll find them as shown below, you'll need to take the two panels off in front of the drivers knees (lots of Torx T20 screws),and then another random piece of plastic also with lots of T20s before you can get to it properly.
