Hello everyone,

I finally managed to pick up my new 2001 Mk4 Golf 1.6 SE today after about a week of waiting..

I was going to post pictures of what it looks like now, but it being dark all I get is flash so you'll have to wait.. but in the mean time you can have two!

Well that's clearly the engine...

And that's the dash...

Sorry about the poor pictures, as I said I will try and get some of the body tomorrow.

The car is green, and is as stock as you like! But hopefully that will change and I will display my car as it changes on this thread...

Thanks, it feels a huge step up from the 1.4 Beetle I used to drive...(my sisters) especially considering that the rev counter only went up to 6000 and anywhere past 5 was a no-go red zone. Completly diffrent driving.. I love it!

Well the sun was out and I washed it yesterday so I went for a drive with a camera and ended up with these....

So thats what I came up with, the photos are not brilliant and the sun is trouble but oh well.

As for plans with my car at the moment:

• Montreal II alloys
• Stubby Aerial
• Something with the interior (havn't decided yet)
• New headlamps either Philips or Osram
• Ukmk4 Sticker!
• Try and get everything that say Vindis (VW Dealer) off the car

I'm trying to keep things on the cheap at the moment, but stuff will get done!

I'll keep posting to show the build-up!

Some suggestions (feel free to ignore):

• change the rear wiper for the aero one from a mk5 golf - costs about £20 and looks more modern.
• change the rear lights to the gti smoked ones - should be able to get a decent 2nd hand set from ebay for a good price

Sounds good, and also get rid of the GOLF and 1.6 lettering on the bootlid

Really?? I took it nothing has been modded considering there are still marks on the back seats where a child seat was!

How do you know? But most importantly.. how do I know where my engines actual red zone is!?

Yeah I was going to get rid of the lettering when I got round to getting rid of the Vindis bits..

I also forgot the aero wipers on my list.. they are a must have.

Not so sure on the smoked back lights yet.

You never know.. maybe it's a GTI in disguise!

I really like the big 5 spoked audi type ones, but they are far out of my price range.

Aint no way a 1.6 would need 160mph on the clock(unless it's Andy's),also you have a trip computer.The 1.6 didn't get one.

i believe that is incorrect, the 1.6 16valves did get a computer. correct me if im wrong, also my 1.4 cluster goes up to 140 so a 1.6 may go to 150

Fair do's,only drove the 8v,didn't even know they did a 16v.Never to old to learn.

I have done it on VAG COM and my best was 6.75 so UNDER what a 4MOTION can do according to the factory spec  

After the Turbo is done i want to SLAM the 5 second mark  BIG TIME
