Most sites seem to question the legality of them, also insurance companies will frown upon them and may not offer cover anymore.

I think its more the point you look at it thinking, "Theres something missing there". It just doesn't look right de-wingmirror'd.

On second look, why have they only removed and smoothed the door handles on the right-hand side of the car? Thats totally random! Left hand side still has its handles.

Well personally I wouldn't want my golf to look like that. It is interesting though.

I have no idea why anyone would want to get rid of all but one handle, and I'd feel much better knowing that I can use my wng mirrors!

    As I said, Interesting though

How about getting a set of BMW steelies to band the do a 17" by 7.5" although you'd obviously need a set of pcd adapters.

but might look a little better than 16"

    just a thought

but they do look sooo good on the gora.

They do look pretty cool actually, didnt think they would look as nice on a car that big as you mostly see steel wheels on smaller cars. Im running 14" at the moment & they look too small lol, would like to have bigger ones, would make good winter wheels too.

When I first started to look at modding mine my first question on here was if anyone new of anywhere I could get a set of 17" steelies. no one knew so kept on digging but got mine before I found that bmw did them Sad

the standard 16" steels are 6.5" - what have those bora steels been banded to - 7.5-8 inches? the rears look wider too.

Whats the best price you can get for a set of 4 x 16" Beetle steels to be banded from 6.5" - 8" wide??

I would like the way that it's done on the Bora in the pics so that I get a 1" dish too

    Cheers

i'd get fronts done to 7.5 and rears 8.5 wide, you'd have to get them staggered

na just want them all one size!! I know it'd prob look betta with wider rears but don't wanna go that route and have hassle with different tyres etc.....

You know what, I had been really looking at buying a set myself, set of 16's in the garage, but you really do need 17's and lower profile tyres to get away with that look on a mk4..... it just doesnt look right, profile is wring at the side of the car, shame cause i love banded rims.

Now to find 17 inch steelies that will fit our motors!!! :<
