Guys this is how to code a new remote without using VAGCOM

How to synchronise a new remote keyfobs

You’ll need two keys to do this

    1. Place your first key into the ignition and turn to the second notch (do not start the car)

    2. Now close the door and place your second key into the handle lock

    3. Turn the key to the lock position and let it spring back to the central position.

    4. Hold down the Lock button on your new remote, you may hear a bleep from the car

    5. Now unlock the car using the key in the barrel and remove, then take your first key out of the ignition

    6. Close the door

    7. Your remote should now be coded
Need some help with Vagcom check, Keys/Immobilser adaption, cluster swapping, Miles till Empty/Illuminated Needles, Autowindows, ECU swapping//coding etc... PM me :) Pics of the aRd automobile http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/p/239924/1548484.aspx#1548484

I didn't think this was possible. Do you know would this work on an Audi A3? and where would you get the key blanks and then get them cut?

You don't need to go through the sequence above. That is fairly long winded but not to detract from the well written article itself.

all you need is one key providing the car is unlocked, or your spare only to open the car.
sit in the drivers seat, blip the unlock/lock of the key you wish to syncronise put it in the ignition and turn. job done.... (at least for a 2001 gti and a 2001 S3)

if you are delocked and the car is also locked up. assuming the boot is still factory open the boot with the key and a bit of clambering to do to climb in and open the doors.
if you have de locked the boot and doors and haven't fitted another device to enable you to access on power failure then welcome to the world of hindsight!

    Just for info.

Have a new remote which I've synchronised using the above method. It also has the correct key.

The new remote now locks/unlocks the doors and sets/unsets the alarm (remotely)

Great, however it does NOT disable the immobiliser. So you can turn the key in the ignition but the car will not start. The immobiliser warning light also stays on.

Looks like to actually sync. the immobilier to the new remote, I will have to take a trip down the stealer's. Quoted £42.00 to do the job!

    Yup..

The Stealership actually get a time-sensitive code from VW's server in Germany that allows them to re-code the transponder (in the keyfob) to match the immobiliser..

I've just had a new alarm fitted and the guys who fitted it needed to take one of the transponder chips to enable my remote-start functionality.

The alarms fitters are getting an additional key-fob syncronised to the immobiliser at the dealerships next week. If it was possible to do i through Vag-Com, they surely would have done it themselves (v.clever chaps www.amgdesign.co.uk)

Does anyone know if the 3 button key will work with a car that was supplied with a 2 button key? I recently bought a spare key that has the boot release also, I have brought a new blade for it and want to know if it can be syncrhonised to lock/unlock the car?

You can use VAGCOM to sync the keys from IMMO 3

Look under the section 'Immobilizer Information Pages'.

Just synched my 3 button remote from my polo to the bora and I can now remote open the boot instead of having to press the unlock button twice and exposing the cabin of the car being unlock. Just gotta get a blade and a recode now.

    Just to make this clear,

on probably all Immo2 type keys the above may code both the remote part and the immobiliser part.

But i think on Immo 3 u either have to go to VW and they use their new gecko system to dial up to germany and get hte time sensitive code. Or you can use a VagCom if you know the 4/7 digit SKC (sometimes found in owners manual or even on the pastic key by the barcode.

But if you buy a 2nd hand key with Immo3 youll never get the immobiliser part to work as once its programmed thats it it cant be recoded to a diff car/immobiliser.

    Hey guys

Been having abit of bother trying to synchronise a keyfob that i have just bought off ebay.  I bought a 1.8T last weekend and have only got 1 key (switchblade/keyfob), i'm terrible with keys so after reading R1GTI's post about how to synchronise with one key i though I would give it a shot.

I bought feyfob off ebay - same vw part number and same frequency (433MHz).  I have tried pressing unlock and then lock and turning my working key to ignition whilst the car is unlocked but it doesn't seem to work.  Its a 99 1.8T - anyone know what i'm doing wrong?

    Have you checked/installed fresh batteries?

I got some cheap ones and it wouldn't sync, but I checked with a multi-meter and even though they were new out of a packet they were flat. Went and bought some durecell ones last night and it worked fine.

As for the immob you'll need vag-com to get that to work, or a visit to the stealers.

Guys..................VAG spend countless millions developing the security systems for these cars,so they wouldn't make things as easy as leaving the key in the ignition for a period of time to program it to the car. What they're doing with all these procedures is making sure unauthorised people can't program new chipped keys and remote fobs if you leave the car with them to have work done on it.The immobilisor built into the instrument cluster will not accept any more transponders without having the correct SKC entered, and can only be done with the correct software and lead plugged into the OBD port, although the urban myths say otherwise, they just aren't true.

If you do take your car somewhere to have work done, you only give them one set of keys, that way they can get a new blade cut,but even if they have a spare remote fob, they wouldn't be able to get this coded to your car to be able to switch the alarm off if it has one fitted. There is no way to get a second remote coded to your car if you only have one to start with if you don't have access to VAG-COM,or are very good at reading the firmware contained inside the Central Conveniance Module.

Unless of course anyone can actually show me otherwise that there is a genuine backdoor that can bypass any of these procedures?

    Chris.

I have done alot of research into this process, i up graded my car to remote central locking when it didnt have it from the factory. its was on an Audi A3 but is the same process etc. the process at the beginning of the post works for programming the remote fob. i have used this on my car.

Vag com also has a function to code the remote fob :http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/vw-remote-matching.html

the Key part is the tricky part, this has to be programmer with vagcom. requied is the SKC code, you can obtain this by using a program called Vag Tacho and a special OBD lead, i have these and i got them form :

    http://www.vagproduct.com/product/vagtacho.htm

    hope this helps

If it aint broke, put a bigger turbo on it....

hi, i have just brought a keyfob off ebay. my golf only came with one key (no fob so no keyless entry) and does not have a lock on the drivers side (previous owner took it because people kept picking it). so at the moment i have to gain entry via the passengers door (does have central locking). i know i have to get a blank key cut (does anyone know where to get this laser cut? how much?) but what are the chances off me synchronising this keyfob to the car. i dont know if the car has got a immobiliser (but i dont really care about starting it with the key i got as long as i can gain keyless entry via the fob)

     thanks

looks like you will need VAG-COM or a trip to the dealer. Strange that the previous owner only did the drivers door (must have wanted to be different)

Hi there, just been reading this thread.

I bought my car stolen recovered and it came with a standard key after locks were replaced (not the buttoned key fob) which starts the car etc.  So i went and then bought two, two buttoned key fobs with old blades which i removed and then bought blank blades that i want cutting. I have spoken to a local non stealer specialist who has said that if the fobs are olf the chips are only one use, so he will need to completely replace the chips for new.  he reckons £150 to cut both blades and reprogramme the transponder chips.

    Does anyone know the following..

Would it be cheaper for me to try and buy new fobs and have them cut and reprogrammed ?

Can the chips that have already been programmed be removed from the standard style key that i am already using and be installed in the key fob ?

It depends what year your car is,if it is post 2001 (ish) it will have immobiliser 3,which is one use only.If it is pre 2001 (ish),it will have immob.2 in which the chip can be reused.
I have once tried to remove the chip from an Audi key the same as Golf remote keys, and I broke it costing me a lot of money. They are glued in VERY securely,so I doubt if it can be done safely.

    Chris.

Ok, well the car is a X plate, cant remember if its 2000, or 2001 on the log book, is there any sure way of finding out which immobiliser it has ?

i have lost my fobs remote entry ability, the batteries fell out of the fob, my other key is broken too so the only way in to my delocked golf is through the boot,

how can i go about regaining my remote central locking so i dont have to climb through the boot?

both keys open the boot and start the car but neither operates the central locking anymore.

the above method requires a lock barrel on drivers door but i have a delocking kit. looked at temporarily removing it to program keys but the dics at the back is pressfitted in, no chance of temporarily taking it out. help!!!!
