Na dont think its your eyes.I bought it off my mate so any work you see he done i can ask him bout the bonnet if ya want,he gotta polish the bonnet for me anyway,it was only part he hadn't done when i bought it.I fell in love with how it looked and it drives sweet.I see it goin through the stages from standard so i knew what i was getting.First thing i am looking at doin is remapping or chipping it then on from there really, after that will prob get samco hoses for it to get the engine bay looking nice and tidy.I want to look at around 250bhp when i finished hopefully,if not over 200bhp and i still will be happy till i want to go faster again.

Thought about going for this look when I bought my Bora. Just out of interest where did oyu mate get the R32 style kit? And was it specifically for the Bora or a modded Golf kit?

    Looks great by the way!

Theres some half assed attempts on ebay all the time but they can be had from reputable companies - can't remember the web link though, I'll try and find it again.

Yeah seen the ones off ebay (carlovincriminals), but unsure about the quality so would want to make sure it had a good fit and proper fixings. It would have to be a really good replica so the original R32 Grilles and number plate mount would fit properly.

The pic on the site of what looks like the actual front bumper has some cheap looking mesh instead of the oem plastic inserts.

Has anyone had one of these ebay R32 kits fitted on here?

Anyway that's why I fitted a GLI front skirt instead.

Yeah thought it had, that's why yours looks spot on and why I was so keen to find out where you got it from.

I've not been on here that long but I think it's a great site for any VW enthusiast, you'll get loads of ideas and if your not sure about anything just post a question, or check out the guides section.

You're off to a pretty good start with your Bora already.

I emailed them today and got a reply saying the carlovincriminals one os GRP not ABS but it will accept the genuine R32 inserts, where did you get your GLi skirt from and have you got a pic?

Not sure about this GRP/Fibreglass stuff, would much rather stick to the ABS plastic OEM style bumpers. What about you?

Got the GLI Skirt off another member (Shera) so a lot less hassle than importing one!! There was a group buy organised a while back, which I missed initially, but after posting that I was interested if anyone had one, he agreed to sell me his.

Stuck a few photo's in members rides section showing before and after, not the best shots!

Personally I wouldn't have anything GRP/fibreglass anywhere near my car again, I used to have a Dimma 205 with grp kit on it and it cracked that often I paid a coach builder to replicate the kit in steel and had it welded on - no problems after that. Yours looks smart with the GLi front skirt

How much lower/bigger is the gli lip than the standard one Ash?  i'd be worried about catching it on speed humps  - even though it looks Cool

They look wicked when smoothed into the bumper.

you have the same grill as me too.Beer

Not sure exactly, maybe an inch or so i'll measure it when I get chance. Have caught it once coming out of a multi-storey car park, luckily you can't see the scuff but it made me feel sick as I'd only had it on a few days.Ick!

No speed bumps on my daily routes so not sure how it handles them, but wouldn't want to go any lower! My uncle does the spraying and fitting for me so I had thought about getting it smoothed, but i've got a company car coming soon (sadly not VW) so not sure how long i'll keep it and would want to return it to standard if I did sell.

Where did you get your grill from? ebay? think it looks quite good with the black badge, but everyone else thinks I should have kept the original on.

So are you thinking of getting the GLI too?

well.. if you are thinking on returning your Bora to standard let me know and i may have the "GLI p" off you Wink

Either the GLI or the Oettinger Lip is my plan.  I'll just have to drive carefully around here.

yeah i got the grill from the US through ebay - kept the badge chrome though.  Ponderng with the idea of a badgless grill and filling the bonnet notch but kind find any info about costs involved with the fillling.

Dont change it for the sake of it, If it cracks go for an ABS one-  if not, and it looks good don't worry.
