    Hey everyone,

In another thread a bit ago, we established the fact my Clutch is slipping sometimes, had it looked at by a mechanic and he thinks the same too...

Now the dealers where I got it from is over 40 miles away (I swear Im not gunna do that again, only going to buy locally in the future), so when I ring tomorrow Im gunna get it booked in and tell them a mechanic has told me its the clutch...

Would they need part numbers or is it just 1 thing which know to buy? or dya reccon they're gunna meither me for them to look at it?

I'd usually drive there and leave it with them, but I dont bleeding want ANOTHER courtesy car from them, usually give me something horrible... so hopefully I just ring, tell them whats wrong, they order, I turn up for fitting.

    Hopefully I'll get a reply tonight :)

    Regards,

    Bud.

If you're expecting to wait while they fit a new clutch, possibly also with a new flywheel if that is implicated in the problem, I suggest you go prepared for a long period of unparalled boredom.

Take a book. Some water.  Maybe a tent and some survival rations. Don't forget the sunny smile, pleasant dispostion and willingness to lose many hours of your life when you could have been doing something productive.  Remember to nod approvingly when they tell you the car is half stripped, but they don't have the correct part because there are so many different variations.

Unless you go prepared, you can look forward to whiling away the hours memorising the battered copy of "VW Driver" in the waiting area and wrecking your guts with the awful coffee on offer.

Myself, I'd take the courtesy car, even if it is a shed.

p.s.  In my experience, every single VW dealership is strategically located as far away from a pub as possible, so you can't even nip out for a half of shandy.  A pity.

Big Smile not all of them, we've got a trendy bar/leisure centre/hotel across the road from us!

if it's VW warranted vehicle, clutch is classes as a wear & tear item, only covered for 600miles/6 months !

any dealer can do job for you (unless the dealers giving you discount etc), job can take up to 4 hours to do not a waiting job TBH, being  mk 5 they will also need to see the vehicle to established weather it's a Sachs, or LUK item fitted. this can't be done via Etka only visual inspection, may also apply to others engines, never done any other than 2L diesels!
