You may have noticed already that we've removed the PM Notifier. The link to your inbox is still present but now longer flashes to indicate if a new PM has been received.
The feature has been removed as an interim measure while David investigates alternatives. He identified that the current notifier code was causing a massive performance issue, so you should notice a marked improvement in page loading times.

Ahh that makes sense now. Atleast now I know to keep checking them instead.

Yes it's just a case of checking them every so often. If you enable email notifications for your PM's it shouldn't be too bad.
This can be done by clicking the link to your inbox, then navigating to the bottom of the page and selecting email notifications for new posts, then clicking apply.
Ah I was wondering why it wasn't telling my about new PMs. If I didn't already have the email notification on I probably wouldn't have noticed I had any lol.
I must say though, I had noticed quite a difference in page loading times. So it's definatly worth getting rid of it for now.

Not yet, we've had to remove the code to keep the site from going slow. Doesn't look like there's a solution as of yet.
Aha! Well ladies and gents, that's my excuse for not replying to PMs pretty much sorted; its official!
the Pm notifier started working for me last week for abit, now its off again..
So does this mean the pm notifier is back on again now as mine started working again not long ago (within the last hour).
Maybe, we need to see if this slows the site down at all.
FYI This version only checks for unread PMs every 10 minutes.

The site isn't running any slower on my computer so seems to have done the trick whatever you've done guys.

yes my pm notifer is back on but says i have a unread pm. i have checked but there are no new pm's

The notifier caches every 10 mins so it will still display an unread message even if the message has been read.
