    Hi

Just had my ED30 bluefinned - makes me wonder, is the ED30 DV as weak as the std GTI or is it different? I notice Forge do a replacement so kinda makes me think its the same? The DV on my previous (std) GTI tore after the remap. Looks different under the bonnet though, ED30 valve at top front of engine?

    hmmmm

Yeah we sell quite a few of the new valves as once you've got a bit more power going through the standard ones they can give up on you.

I had the std valve give out twice on a untuned car, not the best VAG part ever made.

For the price of the Forge DV, I think it is best to do them at the same time. I've had mine done and it just gives you that piece of mind that you don't get whilst you have the OEM part. VW are on their third incarnation of the DV, which the ED30 has and, although I haven't heard of one going it is still a plastic diaphragm and not a plunger type like the Forge item. You must also remember that if you go for the Forge DV then you cannot simply fit and forget. At each service it is best to check that the operation of the system is still good as they can require lubricating. I have never yet seen a failed Forge DV though!

Yes the DV is remotely positioned at the front of the engine - makes it a lot easier to get to.

Does that mean the Forge DV is easily reverted to OEM? Just thinking of warranty etc when car goes in for servicing. Takes 15mins to un-bluefin, be good if the DV could be swapped back as well. VW have already confirmed to me that any non-OEM DV will void the warranty (they dont know about bluefin....).

Yeah, VW will invalidate your warranty, although it should only affect the warranty to parts that maybe affected by it and seeing as the DV doesn't directly affect your engine (affects the Turbo pressures) it shouldn't invalidate everything. VW would probably win thoughAngry

I'm in a slightly different position to you as I can't really take off all of my modifications anyway.

Gaz, how did the fitting go? notice any difference?

hmm so is it literally the 3 bolts that hold it on and swap over to the Forge item? I had a good look in the engine bay and saw it is the exact same part as used on the std GTI, just in a different position. Its almost like they put it there cos they know its gonna fail and need better access. Almost better than the bloody dip stick!

It takes about 15mins to un-bluefin the ECU so if I could swap the DV back in 15mins then I might do it - I do have a spare OEM DV (type 'C' I think) and I know how bad my GTI was when its one went, so I do have a bit of cover.

Audi S3 use this as well?

Went fine, a bit fiddly finding a suitable spot for the solenoid, but got there in the end. I think there is a bit of difference, seems to hold the boost longer and without any fluctuations, and maybe spools up a bit crisper, could all be in my head thoughBig Smile

The OE one was fine, which isn't bad for 10000miles remapped and 1000 of those with the fuel pump and map. Makes me think the location and heat play a big part of the failures on the regular GTi

Yes, the S3 is the same

The latest ones are "G", i hear of talk that the "G" is supposed to be very good.

Yeah I replaced the 'C' with a 'G' on my previous GTI. Couldnt see or tell the difference, but means I have a working 'C' spare.

Looks like theres 2 parts to the Forge item, one bit has to be mounted separately from the main valve - is that easy to do?
