How much oil is normal for a MKV GTI to use? Mine is a May 2006 DSG on 24k miles. I bought it on about 18,700 miles  and I have since done 5300 miles on it. I have driven it pretty hard due to it being novel and taking people out for a ride etc. In those miles I have used 1litre of oil (I think). The dealer I bought it from said they serviced it before I collected it and gave me a print out to prove it. I never checked the oil level when I picked it up. I was extremely surprised to see the oil level warning light on the dashboard. £15 later and it is topped up to normal level. The guy in halfords reckons the modern VW and Audi engines tend to use quite a bit of oil... A friend of mine who works at a dealer reckons this also.... What do you think? It is under warranty if anything is wrong.

    Cheers,

    Rye

Cant recall needing to fill mine neither and I was running REVO Phase1.

Its more likely that the dealer hasnt put enough in during the service. Printouts wont prove that a Tech has put the right volume of oil in.

I wouldnd mind betting its fine and you wont need to ad anymore.

The obvious advice to to keep an eye on it and take it back to VW if its consuming oil. Your warranty will cover it so youve no worries..

    good luck

2006 dsg gti and mine uses 4 litres of top up between services, so its not out of the ordinary. i think its to do with dsg redlining it alot if you drive it in auto and then gun it. Plus i can almost stop it using any oil by driving like a granny and shifting up early.
