Placed an order yesturday for a new Scirocco to replace my current MK5 Golf.  Im just wondering has anyone done the same?

Congrats mate. If only i wasnt a student and had lots of money id have ordered one too.

which engine did you go for?

 It was definately an impulse decision and I havent stopped smiling since yesturday.  Its been interesting chatting to various dealers as it would appear most are only getting an allocation of six per dealership (based on turnover) until the end of 2008.  Most of the dealers I had chatted to have nearly filled there order books already.

so whats yours gonna be? engine? extras? alloys?

 You can only order one engine currently and thats the 2.0 TFSI. The car is so well speced all I added was metalic black paint and cruise!

hahhaaaa sounds fantastic. im so jealous lol

 The dealers seem to think I could have the keys for September but that is not guaranteed.  The two week closure of the factory in August could affect build dates...

how much is that bad boy setting you back?

 Must admit i am tempted to get one to replace my Anni but I think I will wait untill I have seen one in the metal

What sort of extras did you spec?

List price im afraid no deals at all due to the limited numbers being supplied to dealers for the next number of months!  The sale guy did say they had orders from VW HQ not to reduce prices.

Well, I can believe the supply v demand meaning no discount - but the HQ orders are a laugh!!

I own S20 CCO (S'ROCCO) if you fancy a nice plate to put on it?

 It will be interesting to see the effect on GTI sales as the pricing is pretty much the same within a £100 or so. Even spec wise its pretty similar with both getting dual-zone climate etc but the Sirocco has cloth seats to the GTI's 'free' leather.  There is however a £230 option for 12-way electric drivers seat adjustment on the Sirocco which wil be popular I suspect. On the Sirocco the armrest is standard.

Also, once the TDI versions come out it will be the only chance to buy a 2-door diesel DSG as theGolf range does not include such a combination.

I think this car is going to be a big hit with this pricing strategy

I agree, there's going to be some scratching of heads in the showrooms with people trying to decide whether to have a 3 door Golf or a Scirocco. 18's are standard which is nice, but £1500 for leather!!!

I've got some copies of the brochures and internal stuff at home I'll scan and put in.

• The new touch screen DAB radio looks classy, especially with the 600w Dynaudio upgrade for a measly £310.
• For some reason you can't have the tan (truffle) leather with Salsa red, Viper green or Rising blue... I'd have thought it'd look very nice in those combos.
• 140 TDI & 160 TSI are due Jan, 170 TDI in March both in normal and GT spec.

I expect it'll be a nice little earner for VW - MKVI is due in winter?? and there's bound to be a good 18 month window before a GTI appears. They'll be spanking them out of the showrooms, especially as they're bound to come in very cheap with the new engines. I expect it'll hit TT used values too.

I too put my name down for one last wedensday to replace my mk5 gti.

 I specced candy white again, manual, truffle leather, panoramic roof, rear parking sensors, mats, dynaudio, folding mirrors, bi-xenons.

I think that was all, its a pitty 19's wernt an option but otherwise im looking forward too it. Roll on september.

 Sorry to be a little OT but does anyone know what the head and legroom is likely to be in the Scirocco.  I'm 6'6 and really want one, I think I'm going to have to wait until September to find out, can't take the risk of ordering one and not being able to fit in it, but if someone know's it's poor, I can start looking elsewhere.

Aye my gti is candy white so im used to the colour and how easy it is to look after, i didnt think the black showed off many of its features too well, my choices were white ,red, rising blue.

the dealer i used said his allocation was only 1 car for this year and im the 2nd on the list, but the order went through vw's computer as being ordered and i have an order number etc so fingers crossed for september delivery.

im sure i saw week 34 build flash up on the screen too which if that is correct would be 3rd week in august which is exactly the same as my gti was and that came about the 5th of september.

Im impressed with that website mate its about the best ive seen as far as car reviews go, and the good review is a bonus.

im sure the you tube clip is diamond black as you have ordered as its got a gold pearl in the paint which really pops out in the right light. its a stunning colour i just didnt fancy it.

im still in 2 minds about my truffle leather and if i should get dsg again, maybe black leather would be more timeless?

Going off on a tangent would you be tempted to LPG your new motor? I was nice to see VW have tweaked the 2.0 TSI from the Golf GTI to reduce its VED band and up fuel economy to 37.2 combined...

I never specced mudflaps but i wasnt told that they were available either, but i still wouldnt have specced them as vw's just dont suit mudflaps imho.

It is a bonus that they have squeezed the iroc into the 3rd band of tax and improved economy, every little helps now. i wouldnt lpg my car either but i'll probably remap it once available.

btw this pic shows the pearl off in the black quite nicely.

 wish i could afford one.,  im planning to wait for a couple of years and see if they make a more powerful version

 ^ Are you sure that's black, I think it might be the Pewter Grey metallic? There's also mention of something called Sumatra Metallic (possibly a burgundy)... anyone have any real idea what colour it is??

Viper green is more a silvery green than green and not quite what I hoped, I wanted more of the vivid acid green seen on the Iroc... but I suppose then it wouldn't be Viper green!

B10cker's comments about the colour are right, there's a lot of black accents on the car and you need something to contrast with them - white is lush!

To the uninitiated, what's a black accent Tony? The only thing I can think of right now is Ali G.

The front plastics, grille, side mouldings, headlamp casings, mirror bodies and the panoramic roof (if specified) are all black. I also believe rear windows are 65% tinted as standard too.

That's a lot of black to contrast or clash with... I imagine it would look disgusting in yellow.

Maybe your right tony maybe that pic isnt the black afterall it does look a bit too brown when you compare it too the grille.

the viper green just looks sexy. It is the Focus ST orange of VW
