Ok, back in March 2006, my car was hit by a uninsured, unregistered transit driver. See link below

     http://uk-mkvs.net/forums/p/73714/530386.aspx

Only, yesterday as i was being towed home, i saw that person who was driving it, in the same bleeding transit. M453 GAT was the registration, it was a white transit, and i dont believe it is registered or taxed still. So once i got home i got my mate to pick me up and headed back to where i spotted the person, and sure enough, the van is still parked there.

The guy was in a shop, and he was serving people, so assumed he either owns the shop or works there. At around 11pm, the shop shuts and i follow him. Turns out he only lives around the corner.

Now, back in 2006, i tried to claim off insurance, his insurance, he gave me false details obviously, and i know i should of called the cops. Couldnt claim off his, as he wasnt the registered owner, turns out the van wasnt even registered, no tax, no insurance either, for the past 4 years or so. Did look for the guy but didnt find him then.

So now i know where he lives and i assume where he works, any suggestions as to the best way to deal with this. Police are not really interested as they didnt even let me file a report back then as the incident already happened.

    Any ideas?

report his van as being untaxed and un insured and watch it be taken away and crushed or get petty and enact some kind of revenge.  However you have to weigh up the cost to you if you were caught, (that is assuming that you are an upstanding law abiding citizen) is it worth it.  However dobbing him in would be maginally satisfying.

I'd eyeball it, see if the tax is out.  If it is, report it.   That way you're exacting revenge within the confines of the law, being the concerned citizen that you are.  Smile If his tax is in, confront him face on and explain that you have reason to believe he was responsible for a hit and run/failure to stop 2 years ago.  That should gee him up a bit.

I wouldn't go slashing tyres, smashing shop windows or anything like that.  If he finds out who did it then you're locked in a Parus caeruleus for tat scrap.  Pointless, and too much hassle to be constantly watching your back.

What happened back when your car got scraped? Did you collar the guy and he told you he wasn't insured?

Go in his shop with a mate, have the DVLA number in your phone and dial them up and tell them in front of him in his shop... basically wind hime up by letting him see you grass him up...

Hed have to have big cahhunnas to try to stop you, nothing Illegal about grassing him up either, and he can hardkly call the police... give the DVLA his works and home address too so he knows that you know where he lives,.

At the time he told me he was insured, gave me details of insurers etc, plus a business card which seemed genuine enough. The van itself at the time was plastered with Some church signs, so thought he was probably genuine. Took loads of pictures etc. Plus he had a passenger with him who also seemed genuine. Tax disc was also on there, which seemed legit and valid.

But once i called my insurance company they had different details, not insured or registered to anyone for a couple of years. I had his number, so called him and he said he will pay for it etc, but when i called back the day after the number was off and stayed off to this day.

Either what andymac said or give him a good shoeing on his way home, either way make sure he finds out why its happened.

shoot! What would be a happy resolve for you?  Are you solely after some form of revenge? Getting money out of the fella after all this time is doubtful. He at least needs to know you're on to him to get his anxiety levels up (Although he does deserve a good hiding)

Totally agree with this... You should do a steak-out on his place so you can watch and film the van being taken for destruction - you could then post on here to the delight of everyone else who has been in a similar position.

Also why not find out what time he leaves off work and let the old bill know he has no insurance etc and get them to stop him as he leaves off. That'd result in points on his license too if they see him driving it on the public road aswell as having the van crushed.

I'd let his tyres down whilst waiting for the DVLA to sieze it and then make sure he knew you had got his van towed and crushed (so long as he doesn't know where you live) if that is what happens, and keep m eye on the situation so if he buys another wreck you can do the same thing!

To be honest, I think you alone on his doorstep will freak him out, especially after 2 years.

Obviously go through the legal procedures of nailing this t**t but if you really want to go down the torture/scare/revenge route just be careful... (or pay some chavs to do it).

If it doesn't fit, spit on it and try again.

Your never likely to get any money after two years so i would do all i could legally, report him to every man and his dog till someone listens and does something,

if nothing happens petrol bomb his van ! now thats sweet revenge !

EVERY day is a track day !!

AMD remap - Eibach lowering springs - Black badges - Caractere boot infill & roof spoiler - custom aerial - R32 rims - oem sat nav - ipod installed in the armrest - custom fabia rear wiper - GT TDI interior - loads of layers of wax !
