    Hi mods

I know this has endlessly been discussed but the problem has been highlighted again with another member who has been either conned or, at best, treated very badly by someone on here.

Basically, a refund was supposed to have been given but it's yet to materialise and a thread has been generated in an effort to get the money back. During the course of the thread, it appears that other people have had exactly the same experience with the same seller. Now, the problem is that he can still sell here and if it wasn't for the actions of one of his "victims" (ie the thread) other members would be unaware of the unreliability of the seller.

So, is there any way that a feedback "score" of some sort or seller / buyer history can be applied to each member to prevent this type of thing happening?

Sorry for repeating this issue but I think it's justified (sadly).

    Dave.

Could not agree more, something should be done to protect people from the likes of these scammers, who don't care who the hell they rip off, also maybe notify other similar sites about these people, to help stop them simply moving from one site to another to continue plying their scams to others, after they have been found out !!! It's all possible but as there isn't a ready made 'plug in' for our software we would have to custom develop it, which I'm afraid is going to take time and money to do.

Sorry it's not the answer you're looking for. I would love to see something like this implemented as well.

No, not the answer we're looking for but understandable.

Tabs, would it be possible to have a blacklist of people who are poor sellers so that when the ads are sent for admin approval they can be either filtered out or have an amendment by the admin team detailing the sellers poor history?

Or a note on their sig that they can't change?

It's disappointing that these things need to be looked because of a few members. Would bans be considered maybe?

I don't know if this is possible?

Can the site have a holding bank account in which money is paid in by the buyer, then transfered to sellers account once goods have been received.

This is what i think should happen to scammers there membership should be suspended or simply terminated.

In a word, no. We become like Paypal in effect and that's a whole can o' worms in itself. Not to mention the taxation implications.

That's an option to be considered after this has been resolved. No point banning the other person as they may decide to post up here to offer an explanation - whatever the circumstances.

Anyhoooooo, back OT, how about the suggestions I made - any way they could be implemented or similar ideas?

Just trying to offer alternatives as a way of resolving the issue - it's a poor look for the forum with suggestions of retributions / violence and not to mention the "scamming" itself.

Cant really see banning working, as they could just sign up again with a different email addy.

Had a fair bit of this on a previous forum i was on, never really found a fool proof answer, just the usual slag them off and let as many people as you can know about the person in question.

Doesn't rebooting the router get you a new IP address?

Depends if your ISP assigns static or dynamic ip addressing...
