Airbag fault code issue

    Had the airbag warning come on whilst I was in Germany and got the fault code today; 

    00589 - Airbag Igniter 1; Passenger Side (N131)
            32-00 - Resistance too High
    Anyone able to shed some light on this? I'm willing within reason to sort it but am tempted, if possible to disconnect the passenger airbag (as if you had a child seat in the front) to remove the warning and the fault.
    Bit lazy but don't fancy dismantling the passenger side dash.

    Unplugging the airbag wouldnt help your situation, once unplugged the module would realise you had an airbag missing and the light would still be on and none of the airbags work when the warning light is up on the dash. I dont know what your problem might be i hope someone can shed some light on that, also before you start doing any thing to your airbags always disconnect the battery Smile

    Gary,

    When you disconnect the airbag, it's done in the software i.e. probably do it with VAG COM, you don't have to physically un plug it.

    It may be worth seeing if the plug has come loose though.

     It could be faulty wiring, plug loose or even a faulty ignitor on the air bag which would in the case of the ignitor being faulty probably mean a new unit Tongue Tied
